When Tara Light flees from the fundamentalist compound in which she
was raised and finds love with a Hollywood actor, her dreams seem
to be coming true-- until her former cult's leader decides to
kidnap her and hold her for ransom at the expense of her wealthy
new beau. A Simple, Ordinary Life is an 87,000 word novel that is a
tale of worlds colliding-- specifically, Hollywood and a religious
fundamentalist compound. A Simple, Ordinary Life follows Greg Steel
who is Hollywood's preeminent action star. He has grown jaded with
Hollywood and his lack of opportunities to play substantive roles.
When he becomes smitten with a mysterious young girl named Tara, he
begins to rediscover happiness. As their relationship develops,
Tara confesses that she has recently fled from a cult called Haven
Rock, of which she had been a member since birth. When paparazzi
photos of the couple posted on the internet find their way to the
desk of Delroy Black, the corrupt head of Haven Rock, he
immediately recognizes the opportunity to cash in on Steel's wealth
by kidnapping the girl and ransoming her back to the action star.
When Black and Steel finally meet, it becomes unclear whether the
action hero will pay the ransom or recreate the roles he so
frequently plays on the silver screen in real life and play it
tough.
Collection of CGI-animated features following the adventures of
everyone's favourite chipmunk brothers. In 'Alvin and the
Chipmunks' (2007) Alvin, Simon and Theodore (voices of Justin Long,
Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney) are discovered and adopted
by struggling songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee). When Dave finds
them singing some of his songs, the foursome decide to join forces
and embark on a career in the music business. When success beckons
however, unscrupulous record company boss Ian Hawke (David Cross)
decides that he could make a lot more money from the boys if Dave
was out of the picture. In 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The
Squeakquel' (2009), when Alvin, Simon and Theodore are forced to
put aside their music superstardom and go back to school, they are
given the challenge of saving the school's music department by
winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the trio
unexpectedly meet their match in three singing female chipmunks
known as The Chipettes: Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette (voices of
Anna Faris, Amy Poehler and Christina Applegate). Romantic and
musical sparks fly in the face-off that ensues. In 'Alvin and the
Chipmunks: Chipwrecked' (2011) Alvin, Simon and Theodore take to
the high seas. When their luxury liner becomes grounded on a remote
island during a tropical cruise, the boys soon discover their
secluded paradise is not as deserted as it seems. As they struggle
to contend with the heat, the insects and the close proximity to
one another, the chipmunks begin to develop a few strange
personality traits. In 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip' (2015),
when Dave reveals that he is travelling to Miami to propose to his
girlfriend Shira (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), the three chipmunks
fear for their future, especially as Shira's teenage son Miles
(Josh Green) has taken an instant disliking to Dave's furry
friends. As the trio put their heads together to try to break up
the happy couple, they find an unlikely ally in Miles. With the
common ground they share - wanting to break up the engagement -
Alvin, Simon, Theodore and Miles do all they can to create a
barrier between Dave and Shira.
