Laura Dern plays Nikki Grace - an ingénue actress whose latest role - in a Tennessee Williams-esque fright of a film tests her to her limits. The director Kingsley Stewart (Jeremy Irons) is a cloying, creepy character. Grace is falling for her co-star Devon Berk (Justin Theroux) but if that was the central plot, this wouldn't be Lynch-land, would it? A parallel storyline shows an earlier attempt to make this film in Poland which ended in tragedy when the two lead players were offed. It's just shy of three hours of David Lynch at his eccentric, unpredictable best.

First instalment of Steven Soderbergh's political drama starring Benicio del Toro as iconic revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, based on the memoirs of Guevara. The film follows events in late 1950s Cuba, when Che and a band of Cuban exiles led by Fidel Castro (Demian Bichir) set out for Cuba from Mexico and, over the next two years, mobilise an army in order to topple the US-supported dictatorship of Fulgenzio Batista. The second part, which is subtitled 'The Guerilla', is also based on the memoirs of Guevara.

Jennifer Lynch directs this thriller starring Julia Ormond and Bill Pullman as two FBI agents posted to a remote police station in Santa Fe to investigate a series of gruesome murders carried out by a mysterious masked gang. As the agents interrogate various witnesses and victims, the testimonies diverge more and more wildly as the seedy underbelly of the community - complete with corrupt police officers, drug addicts and sadistic sexual deviants - is grimly revealed.
