This book examines the vast and largely uncharted world of
cultural/creative city-making in Asia. It explores the
establishment of policy models and practices against the backdrop
of a globalizing world, and considers the dynamic relationship
between powerful actors and resources that impact Asian cities.
Making Cultural Cities in Asia approaches this dynamic process
through the lens of assemblage: how the policy models of
cultural/creative cities have been extracted from the flow of
ideas, and how re-invented versions have been assembled,
territorialized, and exported. This approach reveals a spectrum
between globally circulating ideals on the one hand, and the
place-based contexts and contingencies on the other. At one end of
the spectrum, this book features chapters on policy mobility, in
particular the political construction of the "web" of communication
and the restructuring or rescaling of the state. At the other end,
chapters examine the increasingly fragmented social forces, their
changing roles in the process, and their negotiations, alignments,
and resistances. This book will be of interest to researchers and
policy-makers concerned with cultural and urban studies, creative
industries and Asian studies.
The international trade regulatory system is a dynamic system that
has been evolving throughout its history. Tension and conflict are
part of the system. While calls for the abolition of the principal
trade regulation authority, the WTO, have failed to understand this
nature of the system, proponents for reforms have so far not paid
sufficient attention to the evolving nature of tension and
conflict. This book examines the evolving dynamics in international
trade regulation from the conclusion of GATT in 1947 to the current
crisis facing the WTO, from a perspective of emerging powers of
developing countries with a focus of China as the latest force that
demands reforms of the international trade regulatory regime. There
is an extensive body of scholarship on ideological struggles, the
rise of developing countries, geopolitical contest, the emerging
powers (especially China), the use, misuse or abuse of trading
rules, etc. There is however a lack of a single concise research
book that synthesises these underlying causes and factors into a
coherent and precise analytical theme. This book attempts to fill
this research gap by building upon the existing scholarship and
placing the various tensions and conflicts in a perspective that
treats them as dynamic factors that have propelled a continuing
process of evolution of the international trade regulation. The
book will interest those researching on international trade
regulation and as well as development studies.

In recent decades, China has undergone an extraordinary
transformation from an overwhelmingly rural population to that of a
predominantly urban one. This major new Handbook examines and
explores the key features and implications of this urbanising
process from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Using three
overarching themes - progress and enhancement, dislocation and
tension, and the unique features of Chinese urban development -
leading experts in the field provide a contemporary analysis of
critical issues affecting China today. This includes the nature of
urban change, governance and migration, and how this has impacted
the politics, culture, economy and environment. Unprecedented in
depth and breadth, contributors both from within mainland China and
across the globe offer varied analyses and perspectives of
continuity and reform in policies that allow China to continue to
evolve. Sections also cover individuality, the urban-rural
interface and possible future policy directions, with crucial
discussion about continuing urbanisation in an increasingly
interconnected world. Essential reading for academics and students
of urban and Chinese studies, this Handbook provides a timely and
much needed reference work for those who want to better understand
China's urbanisation experiences. Contributors include: A.-M.

This book is a selected collection of 54 peer-reviewed original
scientific research papers of the 5th International Conference on
Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD2020) organised
in Vietnam in 2020. It highlights the importance of sustainability
as well as promotes up-to-date innovation and research for green
development in technologies, economics and education among
countries. The conference provides an international platform for
researchers, practitioners, policymakers and entrepreneurs to
present their advances, knowledge and experience on various
interdisciplinary topics related to the theme of "Green technology
and sustainable development in industrial revolution 4.0". The book
is a valuable resource for researchers, analysts, engineers,
practitioners and policymakers who are interested in the latest
findings in artificial intelligence, cyber systems, robotics, green
energy and power systems, mechanical and computational mechanic
models and advanced civil engineering. This book has 05 sessions
consisting of both theoretical and practical aspects, and numerical
and experimental analyses in various engineering disciplines.
This book provides readers with peer-reviewed research papers
presented at the 6th International Conference on Green Technology
and Sustainable Development (GTSD) held in Nha Trang City, Vietnam,
from July 29 to 30, 2022. The book is original work of researchers
from academia and industry focusing on the theme "Green technology
and sustainable development in Industrial Revolution 4.0" not only
to raise awareness of the vital importance of sustainability in
education, technology, and economic development, but also to
highlight the essential roles of technology innovation for the
green future. The book presents a wide range of research aspects
including energy engineering, electric power systems, renewable
energy systems, automatic control engineering, robotics, vehicle
engineering, material engineering, construction engineering,
mechanical engineering, vibrations, computational analysis,
numerical investigation, system failure, technological solutions in
health care, and so on. Through thorough research basing on both
experimental and numerical methods, the authors feature either
solutions for existing problems or optimization and improvement for
performance of existing methods. The collected research results
could be useful alternatives and implications for industry experts,
research institutions, universities, and all others who share a
common interest in the future global sustainable development.
