This book aims at serving the researchers and practitioners in related fields with a timely dissemination of the recent progress on robotics and artificial intelligence. This book is based on a collection of papers presented at the 9th International Conference on Robot Intelligence Technology and Applications (RiTA), held at KAIST in Daejeon, Korea, in a hybrid format, on December 16-17, 2021. Humankind is getting through the third year of COVID-19 pandemic. While this pandemic has made everyone's life so challenging, it has also expedited transition of our everyday lives into a new form, often called "the new normal." Although many people often use the terminology, perhaps we still do not have a consensus about what it is and what is should be like. One thing that is clear is that robotics and artificial intelligence technologies are playing critical roles in this phase transition of our everyday lives. We see last-mile delivery robots on the street, AI-embedded service robots in the restaurants, uninhabited shops, non-face-to-face medical services, conferences and talks in metaverses and AI-based online education programs. For better readability, the total of 53 papers are grouped into four chapters: Chapter I: Motion Planning and Control; Chapter II: Design and Robot Application; Chapter III: Sensing, Perception and Recognition; and Chapter IV: Cognition, Autonomy and Intelligence. For those who have research on robot intelligence technology, we believe this book will help them understand the recent robot technologies and applications and enhance their study.

This book shows how industries perceive 'weather' as they pose their positioning in climate change adaptation. With empirical analysis, this books extends policy discussion. Weather and climate related industries are clearly knowledge intensive service sectors that have not blossomed yet. Holding his Ph.D. degree from the LBJ School (Dec. 1997), Junmo Kim is a Professor at the Dept. of Public Admin, Konkuk University, in Seoul, Korea. Before coming to the University, he has served as an Associate Research fellow at two government funded research institutes, the Science & Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) and Korea Inst. of Public Admin (KIPA). His areas of interests include Science, Industrial & Technology Policy, Regional Development, Wage analysis, and Policy Evaluation. At the university, he teaches Science & TechnologyPolicy, Policy Evaluation, Regional Development, and E-government issues. His major publications include The South Korean Economy (Ashgate 2002), Globalization and Industrial Development (iUniverse 2005) and contributing chapters in Inequality and Industrial Change (Cambridge 2001, James K. Globalization has been, in some sense, one of the most widely discussed concept in understanding social, economic, and political aspects of the changing world since the late 20th century on. This book, noting the phenomenon, focuses on two parts. One is to empirically track industry level performance of major selected industrial sectors with an aim to analyze the existence of economic bloc formation. The other focus is more policy oriented one, which is to present exemplars or areas where public & private actors together work on for economic & industrial development. What is lacking in the existing literature has been more empirically founded research that would provide support for their arguments. Furthermore, an empirically based research in itself finds room for its own appeal when it can present a spectrum of different industrial and interests gaining and losing with the advent of economic integration. This book tackles this point. Especially, this book questions whether there has been a common economic dynamic that has driven the economic integration. globalization and integration, this book can present how different industrial sectors of different regions are affected, and thereby provide clues to fill the gaps in the existing theories.
