Based on Nickelodeon’s hit horror franchise Are You Afraid of the
Dark?, an original horror graphic novel series with three all-new
stories based on Hispanic urban legends and cultural lore In this
all-new graphic novel series, a new Midnight Society gathers around
the campfire to share urban legends, folklores, and all manner of
spooky stories. These three terrifying tales feature haunted buses,
monstrous creatures, and spine-chilling mysteries guaranteed to
have you reaching for the light switch! In “The Tale of the
Witch’s Wings,” a young boy with a habit of bullying meets his
match when an ancient witch sets her eyes on him. In “The Tale of
the Haunting of Bus #13,” a young girl finds herself potentially
trapped on a bus haunted by more than just ghosts! And in “The
Tale of the Stray Comet,” two siblings bring home a stray dog
that is much more monstrous than they could ever imagine! These
three stories will be beautifully and hauntingly brought to life by
artists Junyi Wu, Justin and Alexis Hernandez, and Kaylee Rowena.
Fox kit 0-730 loves the old stories about Mia and Uly and hungers
for a life filled with adventure. But on the Farm, foxes know only
the safety of their wire dens. When O-370 slips free of his cage,
he witnesses the gruesome reality awaiting all of the Farm's foxes
and narrowly escapes with his life. In a nearby suburb, young Cozy
and her skulk are facing an unknown danger, a being that can blend
in with the scenery and can speak with a fox's voice. Something
that hunts foxes. Forced to flee their den, they travel to a
terrifying new world: the City. There, Cozy and O-370's lives will
intersect, and they'll need to stick together if they're to survive
the monsters that lurk among the City's shadows. And they'll
quickly discover that there are no cautionary tales to prepare them
for the most dangerous creatures of all: humans.

Christian McKay Heidicker draws inspiration from witches, vampires,
H. P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Allen Poe to craft his middle-grade
debut, a chilling portrait of survival and an unforgettable tale of
friendship. When fox kits Mia and Uly are separated from their
litters, they quickly learn that the world is a dangerous place
filled with monsters. As the young foxes travel across field and
forest in search of a home, they'll face a zombie who hungers for
their tender flesh, a witch who wants to wear their skins, a ghost
who haunts and hunts them, and so much more. Featuring eight
interconnected stories and sixteen shockingly cool illustrations,
Scary Stories for Young Foxes has the chills of Scary Stories to
Tell in the Dark and the heart of Pax.
