In 1954, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was unveiled at the International
Motor Sports Show in New York - the start of an unparalleled
success story. Victories in the 24-hour race at Le Mans and the
Carrera Panamericana made it world-famous. It also possessed
groundbreaking technology, including the first series-production
fuel-injected engine. Its elegant shape and futuristic gullwing
doors made it a coveted prize, symbolising exclusivity and freedom.
This volume has everything that is important about the legendary
sports car: wonderfully aesthetic automotive photography by Rene
Staud and archive pictures rich in patina, snapshots of racing
successes and famous owners, and interesting facts from the model's
history to the colours of the paintwork.
"The legacy and mythology of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL-aka the

top automotive photographer Rene Staud ..." - Maxim "What a stroke
of fate: 70 years of the SL, 70 years of Staud and 10 years of The

Delve into a piece of automobile history and experience one of the
rarest Ferrari models! The quality of some sports cars can be
deduced from their famous owners. With the Ferrari 288 GTO there
are even three Formula 1 drivers among them: Michele Alboreto, Keke
Rosberg and Niki Lauda. Sheer coincidence? Unlikely. In this fine
box renowned photographers capture the classy design vocabulary of
the 288 GTO and present some of the rare originals in a
large-format illustrated book. The extra factbook with texts by
brand expert Jurgen Lewandowski has all the well-known and
lesser-known information on the rare Ferrari classic. When in 1984
Ferrari presented the GTO, its racing look and forceful performance
data attracted numerous customers. But just 272 of the Italian
sports car were built within two years. The last one was handed
over personally by Enzo Ferrari to Niki Lauda. In spite of all that
the 288 GTO was never used as a racing car, although its tubular
steel frame, the longitudinally mounted twin turbo V8 and 400 PS
made it competitive. Even today it achieves top prices at auctions.

The 904, full name Porsche 904 Carrera GTS, was in many ways a
special model for Porsche. Due to the unique design of Ferdinand
Porsche, the sports car is affectionately called "Butzi's
masterpiece" and is still considered by many to be one of the most
beautiful road racing cars. In a record-breaking development period
of six months, the Porsche 904 was implemented in 1963. But not
only that made this car a model in terms of innovation. For
homologation (the approval process) as a race car, about 100 units
of the Porsche 904 were registered as road vehicles and sold to
private customers. The demand was so great that the car soon became
a highly exclusive rarity. The distinctive look that characterises
the Porsche design and the combination of technical innovations and
low production costs did the rest to give the Porsche 904 a cult
status that continues today. With text by Jurgen Lewandowski and
photos by Stefan Bogner, two proven Porsche connoisseurs. Text in
English and German.
"An oddly poignant book and a genuine surprise." - Classic Cars Neo
Classics (R) are rare manufactured vehicles, one-of-a-kind high-end
cars, special short-run cars, and "young classics." They are
vehicles that become legends - and coveted collectors' items - the
moment they leave the factory. Faster, more powerful, more
exclusive: whether they're called supercars or hypercars, these are
turbo-charged fantasies in chrome. For most of us, however, they
will remain dreams on wheels. In this book, Rene Staud brings the
dream a little closer. Page after gleaming page, the "Master of
Light" brings these shining stars to our coffee table - from the
Bugatti Chiron to the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder to the Mercedes
AMG One. The images are accompanied by expert texts from the
seasoned automotive writer and aficionado, Jurgen Lewandowski. Rene
Staud is considered one of the most sought-after automotive
photographers and one of the most innovative in the industry. With
the Magicflash (R) lighting system, he has given not only his art,
but studio photography in general an important impulse. He has
published six volumes with teNeues. With more than 70,000 copies
sold, they are in turn classics of automotive literature. With
texts by Jurgen Lewandowski, the automotive section editor of the
Suddeutsche Zeitung for over 20 years, and the author of roughly
100 books about cars. Among his books published by teNeues are the
best-selling titles The Porsche 911 Book and The Ferrari Book -
Passion for Design. Text in English and German.
