SQL Injection Attacks and Defense (Paperback, 2nd edition): Justin Clarke SQL Injection Attacks and Defense (Paperback, 2nd edition)
Justin Clarke
R1,246 Discovery Miles 12 460 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

"SQL Injection Attacks and Defense, First Edition: " Winner of the Best Book Bejtlich Read Award

""SQL injection is probably the number one problem for any server-side application, and this book unequaled in its coverage."" -Richard Bejtlich, "Tao Security blog "

SQL injection represents one of the most dangerous and well-known, yet misunderstood, security vulnerabilities on the Internet, largely because there is no central repository of information available for penetration testers, IT security consultants and practitioners, and web/software developers to turn to for help.

"SQL Injection Attacks and Defense, Second Edition" is the only book devoted exclusively to this long-established but recently growing threat. This is the definitive resource for understanding, finding, exploiting, and defending against this increasingly popular and particularly destructive type of Internet-based attack.

"SQL Injection Attacks and Defense, Second Edition" includes all the currently known information about these attacks and significant insight from its team of SQL injection experts, who tell you about: Understanding SQL Injection - Understand what it is and how it works Find, confirm and automate SQL injection discovery Tips and tricks for finding SQL injection within code Create exploits for using SQL injection Design apps to avoid the dangers these attacks SQL injection on different databases SQL injection on different technologies SQL injection testing techniques Case Studies
"Securing SQL Server, Second Edition" is the only book to provide a complete understanding of SQL injection, from the basics of vulnerability to discovery, exploitation, prevention, and mitigation measures. Covers unique, publicly unavailable information, by technical experts in such areas as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL---including new developments for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Denali). Written by an established expert, author, and speaker in the field, with contributions from a team of equally renowned creators of SQL injection tools, applications, and educational materials.

Morality and Mathematics: Justin Clarke-Doane Morality and Mathematics
Justin Clarke-Doane
R695 Discovery Miles 6 950 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

To what extent are the subjects of our thoughts and talk real? This is the question of realism. In this book, Justin Clarke-Doane explores arguments for and against moral realism and mathematical realism, how they interact, and what they can tell us about areas of philosophical interest more generally. He argues that, contrary to widespread belief, our mathematical beliefs have no better claim to being self-evident or provable than our moral beliefs. Nor do our mathematical beliefs have better claim to being empirically justified than our moral beliefs. It is also incorrect that reflection on the "genealogy" of our moral beliefs establishes a lack of parity between the cases. In general, if one is a moral antirealist on the basis of epistemological considerations, then one ought to be a mathematical antirealist as well. And, yet, Clarke-Doane shows that moral realism and mathematical realism do not stand or fall together — and for a surprising reason. Moral questions, insofar as they are practical, are objective in a sense that mathematical questions are not. Moreover, the sense in which they are objective can be explained only by assuming practical anti-realism. One upshot of the discussion is that the concepts of realism and objectivity, which are widely identified, are actually in tension. Another is that the objective questions in the neighborhood of questions of logic, modality, grounding, and nature are practical questions too. Practical philosophy should, therefore, take center stage.

Mathematics and Metaphilosophy (Paperback, New edition): Justin Clarke-Doane Mathematics and Metaphilosophy (Paperback, New edition)
Justin Clarke-Doane
R582 Discovery Miles 5 820 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This Element discusses the problem of mathematical knowledge, and its broader philosophical ramifications. It argues that the challenge to explain the (defeasible) justification of our mathematical beliefs ('the justificatory challenge'), arises insofar as disagreement over axioms bottoms out in disagreement over intuitions. And it argues that the challenge to explain their reliability ('the reliability challenge'), arises to the extent that we could have easily had different beliefs. The Element shows that mathematical facts are not, in general, empirically accessible, contra Quine, and that they cannot be dispensed with, contra Field. However, it argues that they might be so plentiful that our knowledge of them is unmysterious. The Element concludes with a complementary 'pluralism' about modality, logic and normative theory, highlighting its surprising implications. Metaphysically, pluralism engenders a kind of perspectivalism and indeterminacy. Methodologically, it vindicates Carnap's pragmatism, transposed to the key of realism.
