Daily Bible study is an important spiritual discipline for the
child of God. Those in Beroea were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of
mind, examining the scriptures daily, whether [the things taught by
Paul and Silas] were so (Acts 17:11). Paul instructed his young
protZgZ, Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of
truth (1 Timothy 2:15). If we are to present ourselves approved in
God s sight and properly handle the word of truth, we must give
ourselves to diligent study of the Word. This copy of the New
Testament is designed to help you grow unto salvation, be prepared
for that Great Judgment Day, be approved unto God, and examine the
Scriptures for truth. This New Testament divides daily Bible
readings into easily readable segments to allow the Word to
penetrate and change your life. Can we not all find time to spend
time in the Word that will save our souls?
Because Scripture came from God, the man of God has a solemn
obligation to preach that WordNnot to preach his opinions or detail
his politics or give his hearers an after-dinner speech. The one
who dares stand before a congregation of GodOs people needs to
preach GodOs Word. Practical Expository Preaching for Today seeks
to help the man of God take Scripture and make it applicable to
those who hear him. Practical outlines are presented as examples so
that the modern preacher may learn more deeply the style and
importance of expository preaching.
This study came about as a result of a decline in churches of
Christ and the necessity for elders to seek members who have
wandered. The objective of this study was to examine the attitudes
of elders in churches of Christ concerning inactive Christians. An
examination is made of the responsibilities of elders toward
inactive Christians, reasons Christians become inactive, and
practical steps elders can take to restore inactive Christians.
Nine elders participated in interviews that covered their previous
experiences with elders and inactive Christians, their present
experiences with inactive Christians, and the meaning they make of
those experiences. This seminal work on church leadership and
inactive Christians provides reasons for inactivity, what church
leaders can do to reclaim inactive church members, and looks at how
church leaders currently help reclaim their wandering sheep.
The American Standard Version is a classic text for digging into
the depths of God's Word. The complete Bible, first published in
1901, has been used since that time to seek a full understanding of
Scripture. The Version sought-and greatly achieved-a literal
translation of the original languages into American English.
Because the translation is so literal, it has been treasured as a
tool for understanding God's original intent by those who do not
read Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
God inspired the New Testament in Greek; therefore, the one wishing
the fullest understanding of Scripture will turn to the Greek New
Testament. The Westcott-Hort Greek New Testament used various
textual critical methods to put a Greek text as close to the
original as possible before the public.
God inspired the New Testament in Greek; therefore, the one wishing
the fullest understanding of Scripture will turn to the Greek New
Testament. This copy of the Textus Receptus allows you to plunge
into the underlying text of the King James Version and New King
James Version of holy writ. While modern research has greatly
enhanced the Greek text from the days the Textus Receptus was
widely used, this volume can be helpful as you explore the text of
two of the most-loved English translations and as you explore
textual changes through the years.
