'Gay. The word seemed to hold the weight of eternity within its
single syllable. As strange as it may seem, in all the years I had
struggled with my sexuality, the idea that I could be 'gay' had
simply never crossed my mind. I was a Christian! That was my whole
life! And Christians weren't gay.' This could be the most important
book you read this year. It's a memoir. An exploration of what is,
and what could be. Most of all, it's a clarion call to the church -
to rediscover the love that Jesus called us to. Unconditionally.
'So many gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people give up on
Christianity because they cannot reconcile who they are with what
they were brought up to believe that the Bible teaches about
sexuality. Here is a wonderfully told story of a brave young
homosexual man who has struggled to hold onto his faith while still
affirming himself as gay. This is a must-read.' Tony Campolo

In Rene Girard, Theology, and Popular Culture, fifteen contributors
consider how Girard's mimetic theory can be used to uncover and
probe the theological depths of popular culture. Creative and
critical engagement with Girard's theory enables the contributors
to offer fresh and exciting interpretations of movies (The Devil
Wears Prada, Mean Girls, Star Wars), television (Hoarders, Cobra
Kai), classical literature and graphic novels, and issues ranging
from anorexia to social media. The result is a volume that
establishes Girard as an innovative interpreter of culture and
shows him as an invaluable guide for theologically reflecting on
desire, violence, redemption, and forgiveness. Written in fresh and
lively prose, the contributors demonstrate not only that Girard
provides a powerful lens through which to view culture but also-and
more provocatively-challenge readers to consider what popular
culture reveals about them. Readers looking for an accessible
introduction to mimetic theory and exploring its theological
application will find this a welcome resource.

A collection of previously-unseen clips and outtakes from the
comedy series the Friday Night Project and its successor the Sunday
Night Project presented by Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins.
Thomas Jefferson famously remarked that the tree of liberty must be
refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I certainly hope he was wrong. I would prefer to think that
education might suffice to refresh the tree of liberty. Therefore,
in the hope that I am more right than the great man about this, I
offer this small anthology. It is a collection of thirty brilliant
writings and speeches which just might provide that refreshment to
younger generations of Americans. "As an immigrant to America, I
can only applaud any effort to remind all of us of the great
traditions of liberty that animate this great country at its very
roots. Michael Justin Lee has done that and more in this collection
of documents and speeches. Give this to your friends and children.
They will thank you." Samuel Gregg, D.Phil. Director of Research
The Acton Institute
In Rise of the Black Serial Killers: Documenting a Startling Trend,
Justin Cottrell expels the myth that serial killers in America are
predominately white. On the contrary after sifting through a myriad
of newspaper records and books, he's compiled a list of murderers
that is equal too or greater than the number of white serial
killers from 1860 to present. Few if any have ever heard any of
their names or stories, until now. Based on his findings white
serial killers have been underrepresented throughout American
history when compared to the percentage of the population they
represent by a factor of 1.79 on average. On the other hand, black
serial killers have been overrepresented 2.68 to 7 times their
portion of the population, with a 150 year average of 4.18. Another
startling trend he uncovered is black serial killers have never
represented less than 26.83% of the number of serial killers in a
given decade, despite their overall percentage of the population
never exceeding 13.1%. This trend has steadily increased to the
point that in our current decade they represent 88.24% of the
number of serial killers apprehended since 2010, yet only account
for 12.6% of the populace. Aside from trends, this book offers
reasons most people assume black serial killers don't exist-from
the media prohibition on the subject, to general misunderstandings.
Coupled with this is a look into the various factors that breed
serial killers, with a look into why black serial killers are on
the rise, while white serial killers are on the decline. To prove
his research is valid, a full list of every black serial killer is
provided, along with a brief description of their crimes. In
addition to this the biographies of 35 of these killers are given,
with detailed information about their crimes.
