Susan lives with her mother in Green Valley, known for hard-working folk. The town, however, was too ordinary for Susan. If she had her wish she would leave and go as far away as she could...but that can't and won't happen, because Susan, like all the town's citizens, is a slave. One night, a compelling stranger arrives at her door. Injured, he seeks Susan's aid out of the rain.
