Motion and Path Planning for Additive Manufacturing takes a deep
dive into the concepts and computations behind slicing software –
the software that uses 3D models to generate the commands required
to control the motion of a 3D printer and ultimately construct
objects. Starting with a brief review of the different types of
motion in additive systems, this book walks through the steps of
the path planning process and discusses the different types of
toolpaths and their corresponding function in additive
manufacturing. Planar, non-planar, and off-axis path planning are
examined and explained. This book also presents pathing
considerations for different types of 3D-printers, including
extrusion, non-extrusion, and hybrid systems as well as 3- and
5-axis systems. Engineers, researchers, and designers in the
additive manufacturing field can use this book as a reference for
every step of the path planning process, as well as a guide that
explains the computations underlying the creation and use of
toolpaths.
Food and beverages can be very aggressive chemical milieu and may
interact strongly with materials that they touch. Whenever food is
placed in contact with another substance, there is a risk that
chemicals from the contact material may migrate into the food.
These chemicals may be harmful if ingested in large quantities, or
impart a taint or odour to the food, negatively affecting food
quality. Food packaging is the most obvious example of a food
contact material. As the demand for pre-packaged foods increases,
so might the potential risk to consumers from the release of
chemicals into the food product. Chemical migration and food
contact materials reviews the latest controls and research in this
field and how they can be used to ensure that food is safe to eat.
Part one discusses the regulation and quality control of chemical
migration into food. Part two reviews the latest developments in
areas such as exposure estimation and analysis of food contact
materials. The final part contains specific chapters on major food
contact materials and packaging types, such as recycled plastics,
metals, paper and board, multi-layer packaging and intelligent
packaging.
With its distinguished editors and international team of authors,
Chemical migration and food contact materials is an essential
reference for scientists and professionals in food packaging
manufacture and food processing, as well as all those concerned
with assessing the safety of food.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD tells the true story of a young girl struggling
to find her identity during the confusion and deaths that followed
the sudden boom of legalized gambling. She witnesses the city
crumble as it is swept away by the growing casino industry of
Atlantic City. An accidental fire burns down a neighbor's house,
leaving nothing but their new-found gambling and alcohol addictions
behind. Many are fired from their jobs and forced to leave the
area, and are replaced by cheaper workers living in the newly built
slum housing in the once-safe neighborhoods and parks of her
childhood. Her close relationship with family and friends who also
struggle with the same issues of redefining what home means to them
are explored throughout this thought-provoking story.
