In the scientific theory of sport science four major questions can be considered: (1) What is the function of science? (2) What is the body of knowledge of a scientific field? (3) What is the appropriate research methodology? (4) How are research results applied to the practical field? This publication structures the body of knowledge of German sportscience and focuses on the second question. Answers to the other questions are given implicitly within the articles relating to the specific subdisciplines of sport science.
Will we be able to stand firm in times of adversity? We'll probably never really know until we are faced with it. In the scriptures God tell us in (Job 14:1) that man (who is born of a woman) is of a few days, and full of trouble, agitation, commotion, and turmoil. Aran Zellar expected trouble from Chuck Deedemair, But he held on to faith that God would stand by him and help him overcome his fear and apprehension. (Psalm 34:17) The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (Psalm 46:1) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. God never said he would keep us from experiencing trouble, but he did promise to be with us through our trouble. Without God we are powerless to stand against the wiles of the devil, but with him we can stand up to anything. Aran knew the truth of God's word, and he knew that faith could conquer any fears the devil tried to put in his path. Often it's a frightening situation to walk up to to someone and talk to them about God, Why? Because God just isn't mentioned in our society, unless we're a born-again believer, in which case such a conversation is usually confined within the church. Joe was also contrary to the subject of God and the church, but through abiding faith and perseverance Aran planted a productive seed in Joe's mind that subsequently led to salvation in his heart. The fishing trip shows how God can and does use different everyday occurrences to get the salvation message accross. And the auto accident with Amos Boden shows precisely how God protects us through dangerous times. Do we have the enduring faith we need to trust God with our life, through good times and bad, through trouble and adversity? Be sure you know where you will spend eternity. God says there are only two choices: Heaven or hell.
