Hepatitis C is the most common blood-borne virus in the U.S. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that 3.2
million Americans are chronically infected with the chronic
hepatitis C virus (HCV). Treatment for HCV is long, sometimes
lasting a year or more with success rate currently around 50%. And
the medications often cause incapacitating side effects. Two new
medications introduced in 2011 are showing success rates of 75 to
80%. However these new medications are taken with existing HCV
drugs and include and intensify the side effects. Hepatitis C
Treatment One Step at a Time provides the practical advice and
daily inspiration you need to help you successfully make it through
hepatitis C (HCV) treatment. Deciding to undergo hepatitis C
treatment is one of the bravest and most important steps toward
health you'll ever make. As a Stanford nurse in the HCV field and a
patient who was treated twice for HCV, Lucinda K. Porter
understands how physically and emotionally challenging treatment
can be. In Hepatitis C One Step at a Time, she provides entries for
each day of treatment, offering you a daily dose of relief,
encouragement, and tips to help you stay on treatment. From dealing
with fatigue and nausea to nosy co-workers and lab results, Porter
provides everything you need to know to ease the process, including
how to: Prepare for treatment, mentally, physically, and
financially Manage side effects Set up a support system Keep your

This book provides an in-depth view of supplier diversity programs
and how they have contributed to the meteoric rise of minority
businesses. Incorporating expert advice from supplier diversity
practitioners as well as empirical data, it looks at the emergence
of supplier diversity programs, how to make them effective, and
their future. Supplier diversity ensures an open and inclusive
competition for contracts during the procurement process, and the
use of vendors of different backgrounds fosters a better
understanding of a diverse customer base. Over the last decade the
number of minority-owned firms in the US has increased 38 per cent.
As the number of minority entrepreneurs continues to rise, these
business owners have recognized the need for B2B opportunities, and
supplier diversity programs that create the fastest path to scale
and grow a small business. Porter highlights the history and impact
of these programs as sources of business education as well as
pipeline development for minority and women entrepreneurs. Finally,
readers interested in levelling the playing field in business have
a go-to source.

First scholarly monograph devoted to Klee's poetry illuminates the
reciprocity of poetry and painting in Klee's creative world and in
early modernism. It is no coincidence that most of the artists at
the vanguard of early 20th-century modernist art were poets as well
as painters. Paul Klee (1879-1940) was among them. Known today
almost exclusively as a visual artist, he was alsoa poet who
experimented across a range of poetic forms. In 1901, while still
vacillating between a career as a painter and one as a poet, Klee
predicted he would end up expressing himself through the word, "the
highest form of art." This first scholarly monograph devoted to
Klee's poetry proposes that he lived up to that prediction. It
considers poems he identified as such and visual images that are
poetic in their compositional techniques, metaphorical imagery, and
linear structures. It provides selected examples of Klee's poetry
along with English translations that capture the spirit and literal
meaning of the German originals. It places the poems and related
images within the spectrum of contemporary poetic practice,
revealing that Klee matched wits with Christian Morgenstern, rose
to the provocations of Kurt Schwitters, and gave new form to the
Surrealists' "exquisite corpses." Paul Klee, Poet/Painter is a case
study in the reciprocity of poetry and painting in early modernist
practice. It introduces a little-known facet of Klee's creative
activity and re-evaluates his contributions to a modernist
aesthetic. Kathryn Porter Aichele is Associate Professor in the Art
