Strauss' chamber opera in a classic production from the 1965 Munich Festival, conducted by Karl Bôhm. The opera was composed between 1911 and 1912 and features a libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal.
The Austrian premier of Alban Berg's darkly satirical opera, recorded live at Vienna's Theater an Der Wien in 1962. In what proved to be a career-defining performance, American soprano Evelyn Lear takes on the role of Lulu, a femme fatale who descends from life as a society hostess into prostitution. Other cast members include Rudolph Schock, Paul Schöffler and Josef Knapp. The conductor is Karl Böhm.
