Daruber hinaus werde ich versuchen, ihren (moglichen) Beitrag zur Beendigung des Vietnamkriegs aufzuzeigen. Um dies zu tun, werde ich im folgenden Kapitel auf die Lage in Vietnam und den USA kurz vor den ersten Protesten eingehen. Es soll gezeigt werden, wie sich die offentliche Meinung zur amerikanischen Beteiligung am Krieg veranderte und mit welchen Mitteln die Friedensbewegung arbeitete. Das Hauptaugenmerk wird in dieser Arbeit auf den zwei fur die Friedensbewegung ausgesprochen wichtigen und miteinander stark verbundenen Gruppen liegen: den Studenten und der afroamerikanischen Burgerrechtsbewegung.
