In today's dynamic business environment, IT departments are under permanent pressure to meet two divergent requirements: to reduce costs and to support business agility with higher flexibility and responsiveness of the IT infrastructure. Grid and Cloud Computing enable a new approach towards IT. They enable increased scalability and more efficient use of IT based on virtualization of heterogeneous and distributed IT resources. This book provides a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of Grids and Clouds and of how companies can benefit from them. A wide array of topics is covered, e.g. business models and legal aspects. The applicability of Grids and Clouds in companies is illustrated with four cases of real business experiments. Als sich die Potentiale des Internets fur die Wirtschaft abzeichneten, wurden von vielen Wissenschaftlern und Praktikern Anwendungsszenarien und Prognosen entwickelt, die sich mit den Auswirkungen des Internets auf die Wirtschaft beschaftigten. Wie hoch die damaligen Erwartungen waren, zeigten nicht zuletzt die Entwicklungen an den Weltborsen. Stichworter wie frictionless economy, disintermediation, virtual organizations, E-Learning und andere stehen stellvertretend fur solche Voraussagen. In der Zwischenzeit ist eine weitreichende Ernuchterung zu beobachten. Dieses Buch versucht eine Bestandsaufnahme der digitalen Okonomie. Die Erwartungen und Prognosen in Bereichen wie E-Commerce, E-Learning oder im Bereich virtuelle Organisation werden dem tatsachlich Erreichten gegenubergestellt. Es wird weiter ein Ausblick auf kunftige Entwicklungen gegeben. Der Leser gewinnt so einen Uberblick uber den heutigen Stand der digitalen Okonomie. The book provides a collection of individual chapters from the participants in the OEPI project, which represent a mix of academic and practical chapters and contributions. The first part of the book is dedicated to a theoretical introduction to Organisations' Environmental Performance Indicators and to a state-of-the-art overview in literature and practice. The second part of the book contains several chapters describing information systems and their components supporting the management of Environmental Performance Indicators, especially in inter-organizational contexts. The third part is dedicated to three case studies from practice, and the book concludes with part four, in which practical guidelines for the innovative management of Environmental Performance indicators in organizations and in inter-organizational contexts are presented.
I3E 2001 is the first in a series of conferences on e-commerce, e-business, and- government organised by the three IFIP committees TC6, TC8, and TC11. It provides a forum, where users, engineers, and scientists from academia, industry, and government can present their latest findings in e-commerce, e-business, and- government applications and the underlying technology to support those applications. The conference comprises a main track and mini tracks dedicated to special topics. The papers presented in the main track were rigorously refereed and selected by the International Programme Committee of the conference. Thematically they were grouped in the following sessions: - Sessions on security and trust, comprising nine papers referring to both trust and security in general as well as presenting specific concepts for enhancing trust in the digital society. - Session on inter-organisational transactions, covering papers related to auditing of inter-organizational trade procedures, cross-organizational workflow and transactions in Business to Business platforms. - Session on virtual enterprises, encompassing papers describing innovative approaches for creating virtual enterprises as well as describing examples of virtual enterprises in specific industries. - Session on online communities containing three papers, which provide case studies of specific online communities and various concepts on how companies can build and harness the potential of online communities. - Sessions on strategies and business models with papers describing specific business models as well as general overviews of specific approaches for E- Strategy formulation.

This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on E-Technologies, MCETECH 2011, held in Les Diablerets, Switzerland, January 23-26, 2011. Originally 10 papers were selected from a total of 32 submissions. Seven additional papers were included following a second round of reviewing and improvement.The papers in this volume cover topics such as process modeling, organizational transformation, e-Business, e-Government, e-Education, and e-Health.
This volume contains the proceedings of the First International ICST Conference on Digital Business (DigiBiz 2009), hosted by City University London in London, UK. This annual event had the main objective to stimulate and disseminate research results and experimentation on future Digital Business to a wider multidisciplinary forum that would allow the participants to cross the boundaries between research and business. The scientific offering in e-business, e-commerce, and ICT in general is quite broad and spans many different research themes, involving several communities and me- odologies. The growth and dynamic nature of these research themes pose both ch- lenges and opportunities. The challenges are in having scientists and practitioners talk to each other: despite the fact that they work on similar problems they often use very different languages in terms of research tools and approaches. The opportunities on the other hand arise when scientists and practitioners engage in multidisciplinary d- cussions leading to new ideas, projects and products.
