'Another Place' picks up themes first explored in Kathleen Bartholomew's first poetry collection, 'Moving On', and the autobiographical 'What Did I Eat Today?'. Each poem explores that sense of place - geographical or social - instilled in all of us from early in our lives, and reflects our desire - sometimes need - to move, albeit haltingly, towards another place before reaching our ultimate destination.

This new collections of poems by Kathleen Bartholomew takes up themes from her previous work, most notably journeys, both physical and spiritual. For the sake of clarity it includes works already published in both 'Moving On' (her first poetry collection) and her autobiographical 'What Did I Eat Today?'

This is an account of my life from July 2007 to June 2009, during which time I lived with bowel cancer, pneumonia, and lung cancer. This resulted in surgery to remove most of my left lung, six months' chemotherapy, a major stoma reversal operation and eight stricture dilatation operations with radiography. Whatever else it is though, this is decidedly not a book about illness. Rather, it is a celebration of living: an honest and, above all, positive record of life lived to the full, despite setbacks.
