Katie Hall's poems are of the rare kind that pierce right into your
soul, leaving a tingling feeling under your skin, matched only by
the speechless silence enveloping the roaring storms in your mind.
In other words: They touch you. Not as soapy pathos - on contrary,
they touch your deepest, poorly-lit spots because they are so real
and relevant. No matter if you have lived situations similar to
what the poems get into, you feel that you are right there, right
in it. You empathise not with 'the author' or 'a narrator' ...but
with yourself. What makes Katie Hall's poetry lie so close to our
own struggles and doubts are their way of spinning around the swirl
formed by the eternal dilemma between needing and resisting,
between shame and desire. Ultimately, between honesty and pretence.
To be read one by one, reflected upon, and then re-read. If you are
up to it. 'Cause you will discover sides of yourself that you had
forgotten about or stowed away. Now, with Katie Hall, it is time to
find it back. -Bj rn Clasen-
The Closeness That Separates Us - when feelings go beyond words 'We
are already moving into a game, and I am not sure I like the gaming
part. The risk is too high, fun, however it might be. I want real
life, in all its aspects, and yes, also the risky ones. Games are
just games. It's like fiction, where you can try out things, see if
they work, throw possibilities up into the air and see whatever
falls down, with a bump, with a crash, with a gentle landing, with
a bounce, and what fl oats or flies around up there, in the sky, be
it beautiful but out of reach, or controlled from the ground, by
the artist. That's fine, but unreal. My half-told stories, my
mediocre poems, my indifferent blog scribblings can do that, but I
want real life, and real-life risks when it seems worth running
them. So show it to me, your purgatory. Describe it. In a mail, or
a picture, whatever you find fitting. Or not fitting at all. I want
your words, if they are real, and I want to feel the person behind
the words. So I am just saying: Keep feeding me mails, keep
tickling my mind. If you one day want to tickle my toes, I am sure
that can be negotiated too, somehow, somewhere, somewhen. As long
as it's real and not just words and thoughts and "what if"
speculations and dreams. Those, I have had plenty of, just like you
mention. Short-lived, split-second things, roaring by before they
became unblurry. This is different. You are different. I like it.'

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Geschichte -
Sonstiges, Note: 1,3, Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin, Sprache:
Deutsch, Abstract: Zufall, Gluck, Willkur, personliche Vorlieben,
Considering the latest advances and developments in the arena of
digital media, this book explores current materials, methods and
applications of digital technology in art therapy. It looks
thoroughly at the many potential uses and benefits of digital
technology in art therapy practice, including the use of stop
motion animation and therapeutic light painting photography. A
worked example of how digital art therapy can be used in the
treatment of traumatic brain injury is also included. The book
explores innovative therapeutic uses of digital technologies such
as gaming and virtual worlds. Contributions from experienced art
therapists address professional and ethical issues, from the
sensory qualities of digital media and their effects in practice,
to identifying and using developmentally appropriate technologies.
As art therapy programs increasingly recognize the importance of
using digital media, this cutting-edge guide provides all the
necessary knowledge to incorporate this emerging field into
practice.
