Nowadays, pretty much anyone with a computer and a working copy of
Photoshop can call themselves an artist. That's very nice, but
compared to one of the grand masters of fantasy art, they might as
well be fiddling with an Etch-A-Sketch! Ken Barr is old-school
masterful, and defines what it is to create whole new worlds of
wonder. His storied career is filled with outstanding movie and
television projects, science fiction and fantasy book covers, and
many iconic images from the glory days of "Marvel Comics". Long
before the emergence of such superstar painters as Alex Ross and
Joe Jusko, Ken Barr was blazing a trail of acrylic glory, giving
fanboys a clear picture of what their heroes would look like in the
real world. For the first time ever, a massive collection of Ken's
favorite pieces have been assembled for this personal showcase. If
you appreciate the intense quality and power this man brings to his
work, or just have a fond memory of seeing your favorite character
brought to life for the first time, then this book will be a pure
pleasure!
The Yule Lads have been a part of Iceland's holiday celebration for
many years, their story unchanged. What I have done here is to
reinterpret them, through the eyes of an outsider, and to modernize
them, just a little.
Any of us that have ever repaired things around the home have
always run into the same question, how to do it right. Typically,
our experience tells us what to do, but many of us have someone in
our lives that questions how we do our repairs. We know that we are
doing the repair correctly; we just need for our doubters to know
we are doing the repairs correctly. That is where this book comes
in. This home repair fact checking guide is an interactive way to
show that what you are attempting, and how you are attempting it,
is correct. On each page you will find a heading for a different
type of repair, and underneath you will find a space to write in
your repair and how you are doing it. Turn the page and on the back
you will find confirmation of your methods. You can even tear the
page out if you want to show that certain someone. As they say, if
it's in print, it must be true.
Ten minutes a day, not a lot of time. But just spend that much time
each day with these concepts, and watch the change. One of the
first things you have probably already noticed about this book is
its size, or rather its lack of size. You are probably thinking,
"I've seen a lot of so called self help books before, and they are
usually pretty big." Well, you are right. A lot of books out there
are of a good size, but when you break them down, you have a lot of
repetition, a lot of case studies, "Here's what Bob Smith has to
say about what I'm saying." That sort of thing. Who has time for
that? I don't. What I have done here is to break down each concept
to its bare bones, leaving you only what you absolutely need; the
concept to do with what you will. Who cares what Bob Smith thinks?
I will lay out the tools that have worked for me, and I am sure
that we are all smart enough to read them and apply them to each of
our own lives. Anyway, that's why this book is so small. I have too
much respect for your time and your intellect to weigh you down
with a bunch of examples and other filler material. Everyone's
lives are different, so the application of these concepts will be
different as well. Our lives are all too busy to be bogged down in
a lot of material we don't need. The concepts are on the pages that
follow, so please peruse at your own pace, we will all get there. I
have even left a place behind each concept for you to leave
yourself notes of what you did that worked.
Starting in 1978 and ending in 2000, I worked in the music indusrty
as a technician. My journey started in the bars and rock clubs on
Long Island, New york, and eventually took me to arenas and
stadiums around the world working for KISS, Alice Cooper, Stone
Temple Pilots, and many other groups. This is my story. From club
gigs after school as a teenager, to concerts on every continent on
the planet. I've been there and back, and survived to tell the
story. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed living it.

Few creatures of horror have seized readers' imaginations and held
them for so long as the anguished monster of Shelley's
"Frankenstein." The story of Victor Frankenstein's monstrous
creation and the havoc it caused has enthralled generations of
readers and inspired countless writers of horror and suspense.
Includes the author's own 1831 introduction.
