Sensing Approaches for Precision Agriculture aims to bring together
the 'state of the art' of the most popular sensing techniques and
the current state of research on the application of sensors in
Precision Agriculture (PA). Sensing is of great value in PA because
it provides cheap and immediate data for management. This book
gives a broad overview of sensing in PA and a coherent introduction
for new professionals and research scientists. Readers are
introduced to the potential applications of a range of different
sensors, how they should be used properly and their limitations for
use in PA. Chapters on specific topics and case studies provide
depth and enable implementation of the methods by users. A general
introduction about sensing techniques in PA is followed by Chapters
2-9 on the most important specific techniques in sensing and
Chapters 10-13 include mini-case studies, each showing cutting-edge
applications for different sensing methods. Finally, there is an
Epilogue on how we expect sensors and analysis to develop.

A revolutionary framework for preservice teacher learning centered
on justice-focused coaching that encourages culturally responsive
practice and disrupts systems of oppression. In Coaching in
Communities, researcher Melissa Mosley Wetzel, along with her
coauthors, distills the lessons of an eight-year study into a
transformative educator training model, Coaching with CARE (an
acronym for critical and content-focused, appreciative, reflective,
and experiential). She demonstrates how effective, contextual
teacher training can be a cornerstone of educational justice, which
occurs when all learners are supported to be successful in school
and when schools expand notions of success to include diverse ways
of life and learning. Wetzel shows how this new framework, which
draws from behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, and critical models
of coaching, can be used in professional and informal learning
contexts, and in dialogue with families and communities, to upend
the status quo, break down the expert-novice distinction, and
cultivate just forms of practice. As Wetzel notes, the work of
justice is collaborative, sustained engagement in resistance to
marginalization, racism, and other inequities. Coaching in
Communities presents a set of tools, including shared inquiry and
coaching cycles of observation, reflection, and debriefing, and
demonstrates how they work in real-life settings. With these tools,
teacher education programs as well as districts, schools, and other
organizations can train for change, which is one essential step in
school transformation.
Towards Anti-Racist Educational Research: Radical Moments and
Movements is a call for educational researchers and teachers to
engage in the work needed to be anti-racist. In the academy, there
is no place for neutrality when it comes to race. One either
endorses the idea of a racial hierarchy or that of racial equality.
Educators and researchers either believe problems are rooted in
groups of people or locate the roots of problems in power and
policies. Therefore, we can either allow racial inequities to
continue or confront racial inequities. Delane Bender-Slack and
Francis Godwyll work to confront those racial inequities in
educational research. As they continue to grapple with their role
in radical moments and movements-from various identities,
perspectives, and positionalities-they strive to identify their
intellectual, social, and cultural labor in their research, and in
this writing, as anti-racist. The editors define what it could mean
to be anti-racist in research methods, projects, and agendas, and
they pose the following questions: How do we ask anti-racist
research questions? How do we create anti-racist curricula? How do
we design anti-racist policies? What does it mean to be racially
humanizing educational researchers? How do we intentionally work
towards racial justice?
