Dr. "Skip" Sviokla, lived life as a successful driven, athletic and
brilliant graduate of Harvard Medical School, reveling in wealth
and glamour as a "celebrity doctor" until addiction brought his
life crashing down. This real-life "Dr. House" had it all (he
thought) until addiction took everything. Miraculously, recovery
gave him back his family, his self-respect, and much more The media
is filled with celebrity addiction stories, so people will be drawn
to the author's experience as a "doctor to the stars," and having
attended the most famous university and medical school in the
world, Dr. Sviokla's story will also be relevant to a larger
audience, including medical professionals and those seeking answers
about addiction. In addition to being an engaging memoir about one
man's journey to recovery, this book offers expert medical
knowledge about addiction and its treatment. Few books are written
from the unique perspective of a board-certified addiction medicine
specialist who has also experienced his own battle with addiction.
Dr. Skip is a frequent public speaker and writes on a wide range of
addiction topics, such as prescription drug abuse and the world of
addiction within the medical profession. Coauthor Kerry Zukus'
debut novel, The Fourth House (2007), was a Featured Selection of
the Book of the Month Club, the Doubleday Book Club, and the
Literary Guild, divisions of Random House/Doubleday Entertainment,
where it sold out its first two printings.
In 2004, the Academy Award-nominated movie Hotel Rwanda lionized
hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina for single-handedly saving the
lives of all who sought refuge in the Hotel des Milles Collines
during Rwanda's genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. Because of the
film, the real-life Rusesabagina has been compared to Oskar
Schindler, but unbeknownst to the public, the hotel's refugees
don't endorse Rusesabagina's version of the events. In the wake of
Hotel Rwanda's international success, Rusesabagina is one of the
most well-known Rwandans and now the smiling face of the very Hutu
Power groups who drove the genocide. He is accused by the Rwandan
prosecutor general of being a genocide negationist and funding the
terrorist group Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda
(FDLR). In Inside the Hotel Rwanda, survivor Edouard Kayihura tells
his own personal story of what life was really like during those
harrowing 100 days within the walls of that infamous hotel and
offers the testimonies of others who survived there, from Hutu and
Tutsi to UN peacekeepers. Kayihura tells of his life in a divided
society and his journey to the place he believed would be safe from
slaughter. Inside the Hotel Rwanda exposes Paul Rusesabagina as a
profiteering, politically ambitious Hutu Power sympathizer who
extorted money from those who sought refuge, threatening to send
those who did not pay to the genocidaires, despite pleas from the
hotel's corporate ownership to stop. Inside the Hotel Rwanda is at
once a memoir, a critical deconstruction of a heralded Hollywood
movie alleged to be factual, and a political analysis aimed at
exposing a falsely created hero using his fame to be a political
force, spouting the same ethnic apartheid that caused the genocide
two decades ago.
Enjoy escaping into the world of wealthy extravagance, romance,
humor, and dramatic and unexpected cliffhangers, plot twists and
turns when this fast-paced chick lit novel pushes the limits to
resolve a very real issue between two women who love the same man.
It wasn't a cult - or was it? The Society is an exclusive,
underground club to help women cope with their mother-in-law
problems. But why all the secrecy? Beautiful, feisty, top-level
executive Katherine (Kat) Embers is losing it big time, undermined
at every turn by her insidiously insulting "MIL" (mother-in-law).
It's affecting her work and making her reconsider her marriage.
Desperate, the Internet leads her to a website where women like Kat
are trying to survive hubby mama drama-a sisterhood of sorts where
everybody knows your shame, but not your name. This popular global
web community is run by the sophisticated and sexy Claudia, wife of
a famed Hollywood producer, and doyenne of this mysterious group.
There Kat befriends two other Society newbs: cute and lithe Julia,
a bestselling fantasy book author, and bitchy, buxom ice queen
Ashley. Together, they try every suggestion their new "sisters"
offer, but to no, and sometimes hilarious avail. Still, the
secretive group hasn't gained its infamy by not producing results.
Soon Kat, Julia, and Ashley are introduced to Gabriella, a hot-shot
entertainment lawyer, and Stella, whose expertise and methods are
too bold and unusual to even mention. Can these ladies have it all?
Turns out they can, but there is definitely a price to pay. Society
is based on the very real and popular website, motherinlawhell.com

"The Mount Rushmore of Adult Entertainment has four heads: John
Holmes, Marilyn Chambers, Jenna Jameson, and Seka. That's it; there
ain't no more." - Bill Margold, famed adult film actor, agent,
producer, director, and activist Seka-The Platinum Princess, the
Marilyn Monroe of Porn, the queen of XXX cinema's Golden Age, and
John Holmes' favorite leading lady. Seka is a legendary performer
in the annals of adult cinema, and many would say the greatest.
Seka's name was so big in XXX that her name above the title was not
enough-her name had to be in the title Seka's real life story,
though, is as enigmatic as her screen persona. She was never a
victim-on-screen or off. This is no tale of remorse, abuse, or
self-destructive behavior. Seka was post-feminist before the term
was born. Inside Seka is the story of a survivor, a trailblazer,
and an icon-still one of the most popular and famous porn stars
ever; the last of the natural beauties. "Before the Jennas, the
Bree Olsons, or the Savannas, the undisputed blonde bombshell of
XXX movies was Seka, which makes her story so important in the
history of adult entertainment." - Ron Jeremy, porn legend, holder
of the Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Appearances in
Adult Films." "From calling the shots in a film genre in the days
when it was completely controlled by men, to standing and being
heard at the infamous Meese Commission, Seka shatters the myth of
the poor little victim who lost her way. Don't expect excuses and
apologies. This is one blonde bombshell who lives by her own
rules." - Candida Royalle, author, entrepreneur, and erotic film
pioneer "She was one of the hottest girls in the XXX business, able
to seduce any man she wanted. So it should come as no surprise that
her story is riveting." - Larry Flynt, Hustler magazine Kerry Zukus
is the author, co-author, or ghostwriter of over 40 books,
including From Harvard to Hell and Back, the upcoming Inside the
Hotel Rwanda, and Book of the Month Club Feature Selection The
Fourth House.
