Evolutionary scheduling is a vital research domain at the interface of artificial intelligence and operational research. This edited book gives an overview of many of the current developments in the large and growing field of evolutionary scheduling. It demonstrates the applicability of evolutionary computational techniques to solve scheduling problems, not only to small-scale test problems, but also fully-fledged real-world problems.
Here is a collection of papers presented at the 11th On-line World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications, held in September-October 2006. This carefully edited book provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the industrial applications of soft computing and covers a wide range of application areas, including data analysis and data mining, computer graphics, intelligent control, systems, pattern recognition, classifiers, as well as modeling optimization.

Soft Computing is a complex of methodologies that embraces approximate reasoning, imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth in order to mimic the remarkable human capability of making decisions in real-life, ambiguous environments. Soft Computing has therefore become popular in developing systems that encapsulate human expertise. Applications of Soft Computing: Recent Trends contains a collection of papers that were presented at the 10th Online World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications, held in September 2005. This carefully edited book provides a comprehensive overview of the recent advances in the industrial applications of soft computing and covers a wide range of application areas, including optimisation, data analysis and data mining, computer graphics and vision, prediction and diagnosis, design, intelligent control, and traffic and transportation systems. The book is aimed at researchers and professional engineers who are engaged in developing and applying intelligent systems. It is also suitable as wider reading for science and engineering postgraduate students.

Detecting phishing website is a complex task which requires significant expert knowledge and experience. So far, various solutions have been proposed and developed to address these problems. Most of these approaches are not able to make a decision dynamically, giving rise to a large number of false positives. This is mainly due to limitation of the previously proposed approaches. In this book, we investigate and develop the application of an intelligent fuzzy-based classification system for phishing website detection. The proposed intelligent phishing detection system employed Fuzzy Logic (FL) model with association classification mining algorithms. Different phishing experiments which cover all phishing attacks, motivations and deception behavior techniques have been conducted to cover all phishing concerns. A comparative study and analysis showed that the proposed learning approach has a higher degree of predictive and detective capability than existing models. The proposed system was developed, tested and validated by incorporating the scheme as a web based plug-ins phishing toolbar to provide an effective help for real-time phishing website detection for all internet users.
