In 1963 a new, exciting sound had arrived. The sound of Beatlemania
Throughout the year, the Beatles were selling more records with
each new release. By Christmas 1963 "I Want to Hold Your Hand," was
the Christmas hit of that year in the UK, although It would be
another two months before the Beatles 'broke' the States, with an
appearance on the extremely popular 'Ed Sullivan Show' on the 9th
February 1964. The Beatles sang five songs that night-'All my
loving, ' 'Till there was you, ' 'She loves you, ' 'I saw her
standing there, ' and of course 'I Want to Hold Your Hand.' It's
estimated that 73 million Americans watched the Beatles that night.
