A photo essay about the four days of protest that forced the Egyptian military to remove the Islamist Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi. "Witnessing the largest protest I have ever seen, I was compelled to capture the people's excitement and participation. In a country so deeply divided after the initial uprising in 2011, people put aside their differences and took to the street to call on Morsi to resign." - Khaled Sayed According to statistics published by Google Earth, this protest was the largest single gathering in human history.
Al Tannoura Troupe is one of the Egyptian folk troupes, established in 1988 by the General Organization Responsible for Cultural Palaces in the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. The group is based in the the old Fatmie capital of Cairo, specifically at Wekalet El-Ghouri. These dancers are not professionally trained but have rather inherited this art spontaneously from their forefathers. Rababa, Salamia, flute, drums, tambourines and sanjes are among the musical instruments that usually accompany the troupe's performance.
