This particular book, covering neoclassical economics, is the third of three in the field of the History of Economic Thought. The others are Pre-Classical Economic Thought, edited by S. Todd Lowry, and Classical Political Economy, edited by William O. Thweatt. This book examines the integration of major trade unions from the six biggest countries of EU's Eastern enlargement into EU governance structures. Based on extensive empirical research, including more than 150 in-depth interviews, statistical data collection, document research, and eight detailed case studies, the contributions describe the activities and perceptions of the trade unions under investigation and the different levels of engagement, including European umbrella organizations, interregional cooperation, and European Works Councils. The book thus contributes to political science research on interest representation and Europeanization as well as sociological research on labor relations.

Der Verband war mit zuletzt 80 Mitgliedsorganisationen und fast 6 Millionen reprasentierten Arbeitnehmern der bedeutendste Industriegewerkschaftsverband in Europa. Seine Aktivitaten haben sich gleichfalls im Zuge des europaischen Integrationsschubes der letzten Jahrzehnte in vielen Handlungsbereichen vervielfaltigt und ausdifferenziert. Bei uber 600 langzeitbehandelten Anfallskranken werden neben klinischen Nebenwirkungen der Antiepileptika mogliche Einflusse auf Knochendichte, peripher- und zentralnervose Funktionen sowie eine Vielzahl von Laborwerten einschliesslich Immunoglobulinen, Hormonen, Lipiden und Vitaminen untersucht. Bisher nicht bekannte Veranderungen werden insbesondere fur Harnsaure, Kreatinin und eine Reihe von Vitaminen beschrieben. Moglichen Zusammenhangen zwischen klinischen Auffalligkeiten und blutchemischen Parametern, speziell dem Vitaminstatus, wird nachgegangen. Zusammenfassend werden fur die tagliche Praxis bei der Uberwachung von Anfallskranken wesentliche Folgerungen dargestellt; wichtige Aspekte ergeben sich hierbei vor allem fur die Kontrollen bei Osteopathie, Polyneuropathie, gastrointestinalen Beschwerden, Leberwerten und Blutbild.

Neue Techniken in der Automatisierung erlauben neue Wege der Arbeitsorganisationen. Die Autoren des Bandes diskutieren Perspektiven und Moglichkeiten zukunftiger Gestaltung von automatisierten Systemen. Am Beispiel eines ansonsten vergessenen Orientalisten, des Hessen Adolf Wahrmund, zeichnet der Autor das Bild des Wiener Antisemitismus in der zweiten Hlfte des 19. Jahrhunderts. In der sterreichischen Reichshaupt- und Residenzstadt lehrte Wahrmund an der Orientakademie und der Universitt. Dieselbe Stadt, in der Georg von Schnerer und Theodor Herzl ebenso aktiv waren wie schlielich Karl Lueger - diese Stadt kam zu ihrem unverdienten Image als Brutsttte des nationalsozialistischen Antisemitismus durch Zufall: durch Hitlers Wiener Jahre.
