Transaktionsorientierte Dialogrechensysteme, oder kurz: Transaktionssysteme, gibt es schon seit den sechziger Jahren. Nachdem sie zunachst - vor allem wegen ihres hohen Entwicklungsaufwands -auf spezielle Anwendungssgebiete wie Z.B. militarische Uberwachung und Flugreservierung beschrankt waren, erleben sie zur Zeit ein sturmisches Wachstum in allen Bereichen der kommerziellen Datenverarbeitung.
