This book is composed of selected papers presented at
IWIFSGN'2019-The Eighteenth International Workshop on
Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Generalized Nets-held on October
24-25, 2019, in Warsaw, Poland, which is one of the main
conferences on fuzzy logic, notably on extensions of the
traditional fuzzy sets, in particular on the intuitionistic fuzzy
sets. A considerable part of the conference sessions is also
concerned with recent developments and challenges in the theory and
applications of other topics exemplified by uncertainty,
incompleteness and imprecision modeling, the Generalized Nets
(GNs), a powerful extension of the traditional Petri net paradigm,
and the InterCriteria Analysis, a new method for the feature
selection and analyses in multicriteria and multiattribute
decision-making problems. Some more general problems of
computational and artificial intelligence, exemplified by
evolutionary computations, machine learning, etc., are also dealt
with. The papers included yield a good perspective on all of these
important issues and problems.

The book offers a comprehensive survey of interval-valued
intuitionistic fuzzy sets. It reports on cutting-edge research
carried out by the founder of the intuitionistic fuzzy sets, Prof.
Krassimir Atanassov, giving a special emphasis to the practical
applications of this extension. A few interesting case studies,
such as in the area of data mining, decision making and pattern
recognition, among others, are discussed in detail. The book offers
the first comprehensive guide on interval-valued intuitionistic
fuzzy sets. By providing the readers with a thorough survey and
important practical details, it is expected to support them in
carrying out applied research and to encourage them to test the
theory behind the sets for new advanced applications. The book is a
valuable reference resource for graduate students and researchers
alike.

This book gathers selected papers from two important conferences
held on October 24-28, 2018, in Warsaw, Poland: theFifteenth
National Conference of Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2018,
one of the leading conferences in the field of operational and
systems research not only in Poland but also at the European level;
andthe Seventeenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy
Sets and General Nets, IWIFSGN-2018, one of thepremiere conferences
on fuzzy logic. The papers presented here constitute a fair and
comprehensive representation of the topics covered by both BOS-2018
and IWIFSGN-2018, includingextensions of the traditional fuzzy
sets, in particular on the intuitionistic fuzzy sets, as well as
other topics in uncertainty and imprecision modeling, the
Generalized Nets (GNs), a powerful extension of the traditional
Petri net paradigm, and InterCriteria Analysis, a new method for
feature selection and analyses in multicriteria and multi-attribute
decision-making problems. The Workshop was dedicated to the memory
of Professor Beloslav Riecan (1936-2018), a regular participant at
the IWIFSGN workshops.

The book offers a comprehensive survey of intuitionistic fuzzy
logics. By reporting on both the author's research and others'
findings, it provides readers with a complete overview of the field
and highlights key issues and open problems, thus suggesting new
research directions. Starting with an introduction to the basic
elements of intuitionistic fuzzy propositional calculus, it then
provides a guide to the use of intuitionistic fuzzy operators and
quantifiers, and lastly presents state-of-the-art applications of
intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The book is a valuable reference
resource for graduate students and researchers alike.
This volume is a brief, yet comprehensive account of new
development, tools, techniques and solutions in the broadly
perceived "intelligent systems". New concepts and ideas concern the
development of effective and efficient models which would make it
possible to effectively and efficiently describe and solve
processes in various areas of science and technology. Special
emphasis is on the dealing with uncertainty and imprecision that
permeates virtually all real world processes and phenomena, and has
to properly be modeled by formal and algorithmic tools and
techniques so that they be adequate and useful. The papers in this
volume concern a wide array of possible techniques exemplified by,
on the one hand, logic, probabilistic, fuzzy, intuitionistic fuzzy,
neuro-fuzzy, etc. approaches. On the other hand, they represent the
use of such systems modeling tools as generalized nets,
optimization and control models, systems analytic models, etc. They
concerns a variety of approaches, from pattern recognition, image
analysis, education system modeling, biological and medical systems
modeling, etc.

This book presents selected papers from two important conferences
held on October 12-14, 2016 in Warsaw, Poland: the Fourteenth
National Conference of Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2016,
one of the premiere conferences in the field of operational and
systems research not only in Poland but also at the European level;
and the Fifteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy
Sets and General Nets, IWIFSGN-2016, one of the foremost
conferences on fuzzy logic, notably addressing extensions of the
traditional fuzzy sets, as well as the Generalized Nets (GNs), a
powerful extension of the traditional Petri net paradigm. The scope
of the BOS con ferences includes all types of problems related to
systems modeling, systems analysis, broadly perceived operational
research, optimization, decision making, and decision support, to
name but a few. In all these areas, virtually all models used have
to take into account not only uncertainty in its traditional sense,
but also imprecision of information. That is, in addition to
traditional probabilistic and statistical tools and techniques, the
use of methods based on fuzzy sets can also be sensible. Even more
so, employing certain extensions of the classic concept of a fuzzy
set can be very useful. Applying intuitionistic fuzzy sets, which
are at the core of the IWIFSGN conferences, is a good example. Both
conferences, BOS-2016 and IWIFSGN-2016, offered ideal venues for
the exchange of ideas, cross-fertilization, and mutual inspiration.

This book presents the very concept of an index matrix and its
related augmented matrix calculus in a comprehensive form. It
mostly illustrates the exposition with examples related to the
generalized nets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets which are examples
of an extremely wide array of possible application areas. The
present book contains the basic results of the author over index
matrices and some of its open problems with the aim to stimulating
more researchers to start working in this area.

In the beginning of 1983, I came across A. Kaufmann's book
"Introduction to the theory of fuzzy sets" (Academic Press, New
York, 1975). This was my first acquaintance with the fuzzy set
theory. Then I tried to introduce a new component (which determines
the degree of non-membership) in the definition of these sets and
to study the properties of the new objects so defined. I defined
ordinary operations as "n," "U," "+" and ."" over the new sets, but
I had began to look more seriously at them since April 1983, when I
defined operators analogous to the modal operators of "necessity"
and "possibility." The late George Gargov (7 April 1947 - 9
November 1996) is the "god father" of the sets I introduced - in
fact, he has invented the name "intu itionistic fuzzy," motivated
by the fact that the law of the excluded middle does not hold for
them. Presently, intuitionistic fuzzy sets are an object of
intensive research by scholars and scientists from over ten
countries. This book is the first attempt for a more comprehensive
and complete report on the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory and its
more relevant applications in a variety of diverse fields. In this
sense, it has also a referential character."
This book presents a collection of high-quality research papers,
presented at the Second International Symposium on Bioinformatics
and Biomedicine (BioInfoMed’2022). It offers a comprehensive look
into some of the fastest growing fields of science, such as
biomedicine, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and
mathematical modeling. The different chapters of the work include
both practical solutions and strictly scientific considerations
expanding knowledge about the future bioinformatics and biomedical
engineering challenges. We believe that the presented works will
have a great impact not only on the development and the application
of new methods for modeling, decision making and data mining in
healthcare and biomedicine, but also it will provide a source of
inspiration for researchers who can implement the proposed methods
into their practice and scientific studies. Â

This book is composed of selected papers from the Sixteenth
National Conference on Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2020,
held on December 14-15, 2020, one of premiere conferences in the
field of operational and systems research. The second is the
Nineteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and
Generalized Nets, IWIFSGN 2020, held on December 10-11, 2020, in
Warsaw, Poland, in turn-one of premiere conferences on fuzzy logic,
notably on extensions of the traditional fuzzy sets, also
comprising a considerable part on the generalized nets (GNs), an
important extension of the traditional Petri nets. A joint
publication of selected papers from the two conferences follows a
long tradition of such a joint organization and-from a substantial
point of view-combines systems modeling, systems analysis, broadly
perceived operational research, notably optimization, decision
making, and decision support, with various aspects of uncertain and
imprecise information and their related tools and techniques.
This book gathers selected papers from the First International
Symposium on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine. Issues related to
medicine and health care constitute one of the grand challenges
faces by the mankind, and this naturally implies a growing interest
in these problems among both researchers and scholars, politicians
and policymakers, as well as economist. The present values which
gather selected papers from the First International Symposium on
Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BioInfoMed'2020) is a recent
response to this interests. In the subsequent sections and
chapters, it covers a multitude of various topics related to
bioinformatics, biomedicine, bioenginering, as well as a broadly
perceives healthcare. Issues related to decision making in
bioinformatics, biomedicine and health care, mathematical modelling
in biomedicine and health care, artificial intelligence in
biomedicine and health care, uncertainty and imprecision, notably
intuitionistic fuzzy sets with applications in bioinformatics and
biomedicine, biomedical approaches and applications, biomedical
imaging and image processing, and excitable structures and motor
activity are covered.
This volume contains, first of all, the papers presented at the
Fourteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and
Generalized Nets (IWIFSGN-2015) held on October 26-28, 2015 in
Cracow, Poland. Moreover, the volume contains some papers of a
particular relevance not presented at the Workshop. The Workshop is
mainly devoted to the presentation of recent research results in
the broadly perceived fields of intuitionistic fuzzy sets and
generalized nets initiated by Professor Krassimir T. Atanassov
whose constant inspiration and support is crucial for such a
widespread growing popularity and recognition of these areas. The
Workshop is a next edition of a series of the IWIFSGN Workshops
organized for years by the Systems Research Institute, Polish
Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, Institute of Biophysics and
Biomedical Engineering, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia,
Bulgaria, and WIT -- Warsaw School of Information Technology,
Warsaw, Poland, and co-organized by: Matej Bel University, Banska
Bystrica, Slovakia, Universidad Publica de Navarra, Pamplona,
Spain, Universidade de Tras-Os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real,
Portugal, Prof. Asen Zlatarov University, Burgas, Bulgaria,
Complutense University, Madrid, Spain, and the University of
