Peanuts surges into the 1970s with Schulz at the peak of his powers and influence: a few jokes about Bob Dylan, Women's Liberation and "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex" aside, these two years are as timeless as Peanuts ever was. Sally Brown elbows her way to center stage, at least among the humans, and is thus the logical choice for cover girl . . . and in her honour, the introduction is provided by Broadway, television and film star Kristin Chenoweth, who first rose to Tony-winning fame with her scene-stealing performance as Sally in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Two long Summer-camp sequences involve Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty, who has decided that Charlie Brown is madly in love with her, much to his clueless confusion. Snoopy shows up at camp as well, as does Peppermint Patty's new permanent sidekick, the one and only Marcie. The eternally mutable Snoopy mostly shakes off his World War I Flying Ace identity and turns into Joe Cool, college hipster extraordinaire. He writes a fan letter to his favourite author, Miss Helen Sweetstory, then goes on a journey to meet her, and finally enlists Charlie Brown's help when her latest opus, "The Six Bunny-Wunnies Freak Out," falls afoul of censors. Also, Woodstock attends worm school, falls in love with a worm (perhaps the most doomed unrequited Peanuts love story ever!), and is nearly eaten by the neighbours' cat . . . Peppermint Patty is put on trial for another dress code violation . . . Snoopy turns Linus's blanket into not one but two sportcoats . . . Lucy hits a home run . . . and the birth of one Rerun Van Pelt!

Double bill of children's animated features. 'Rio' (2011) is a comedy adventure featuring the voice talents of Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway. Blu (voice of Eisenberg) is a rare macaw living in a bookshop in small-town Minnesota. Believing himself to be the last of his kind, he is thrilled to hear that a female macaw of the same species has been spotted in South America. Blu must now overcome his social ineptitude and fear of flying and set out for Rio de Janeiro to track down the feisty and independent Jewel (Hathaway) and try to win her heart. In 'Rio 2' (2014), following their romantic escapades in the first film, Blu and Jewel are now happily married macaws with three children. Adventure lies in wait for the fledgling family when they leave Rio de Janeiro for the wilds of the Amazon to visit relatives. Not only does Jewel's estranged father Eduardo (Andy Garcia) intimidate Blu - who is already out of his comfort zone so far from the city - but Nigel (Jermaine Clement), his nemesis, returns with his heart set on revenge. To complicate matters further, Blu and Jewel learn that the fragile habitat of the Amazon faces a grave threat. Can the couple save the environment that nourishes the creatures they visit and cope with the many challenges thrown their way?
Family comedy starring Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick. For Cloverdale, Massachusetts optometrist Steve Finch (Broderick), no time of the year can compare to the glory of the Christmas season. And, for many years now, he's carried on a series of heartfelt but hokey Yuletide traditions that his family - wife Kelly (Kristin Davis), daughter Madison (Alia Shawkat), and son Carter (Dylan Blue) - at this point, can barely tolerate. Despite his family's exhausted protests, super-organised Steve has the December calendar chock full with everything from shooting the Finch's annual Christmas card photo, to their ritual tree harvesting and neighbourhood caroling night. There's also scheduled time for shopping, 'personal reflection,' and the town's yearly Winterfest carnival, which Steve joyously oversees. But Steve's Christmas bliss is suddenly destroyed when slippery car salesman Buddy Hall (DeVito) moves in next door and Steve finds himself going toe-to-toe with his new neighbour. Buddy quickly begins to undermine Steve's dominance as the local 'King of Christmas' when he sets out to festoon his new house with enough glowing holiday lights so it will be visible from outer space.

In 'Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue' (2010) Tinker Bell risks life and limb to reach out to Lizzy (Lauren Mote), a human girl in need of a friend. In 'Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy' (2014), lured by its magic powers, dust-keeper fairy Zarina (Christina Hendricks) steals the Blue Pixie Dust and joins the Skull Rock pirates who make her their captain. Without the dust Tinker Bell and her friends will lose their ability to fly. The fairies embark on a race against time to bring it back to Pixie Hollow but when Zarina switches their unique talents, their journey only becomes more challenging. In 'Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast' (2014), when animal fairy Fawn (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes friendly with a huge, hairy beast with fangs, Tinker Bell and the other fairies of Pixie Hollow have their doubts about her new acquaintance.
