Solomon is a young lion who can’t fall asleep. He tries sleeping in a tree, like a bat, but that’s not quite right. He tries to snooze in a pond with the hippos, but that doesn’t work, either. How long will it take until Solomon realises that it’s not where you sleep that matters, but who tucks you in at night?
letters are in upper and lower case, both large enough for small fingers to trace around to practise each letter shape. Each illustration includes a single sentence introducing an animal. The sentence structure is the same for each animal, to enourage reading due to the repetitive nature of the text. The names of each animal have been carefully selected as common names in Southern Africa. Built into each illustration is a series of items or actions that begin with the featured letter of the alphabet. Children are encouraged to find all of the things that begin with each letter. This aids in phonetic processing as each word needs to be said aloud to determine whether it begins with the correct letter.
The bestselling, devastating account of three sisters torn apart, abused and exploited at the hands of a community that robbed them of their childhood. It reveals three lives, separate but entwined, that have experienced unspeakable horror, unrelenting loyalty and unforgettable courage. From as early as three years old, Juliana, Celeste and Kristina were separated from their parents and physically and sexually abused by their 'guardians' in the infamous religious cult known as the Children of God. They were made to watch and mimic orgies, received love letters and sexual advances from men old enough to be their grandfather, and were forced into abusive relationships. They were denied access to formal schooling and medical care, had to busk on the streets, beg for money, and were mercilessly beaten for 'crimes' as unpredictable as reading an encyclopaedia. Finally, unable to live with the guilt of what had happened to her children, their mother escaped with Kristina and her younger siblings, cutting herself off from Celeste in a bid to save her remaining children. Desperate to save her sister, Kristina eventually began a search to find Celeste, but it would be many years until Celeste found the courage to escape, wanting freedom and a different future for the child she was carrying. The suicide of one of their sisters drove Juliana to exit the group a couple of years later. Now the three sisters have finally come together to reveal in full and horrific detail their existence within the Children of God cult. Their stories reveal a community spread throughout the world and its legacy of anorexia, depression, drug abuse, suicide and even murder. Lives are ripped apart and painstakingly mended with a shared strength that finally enabled the sisters to free themselves from the shadows of their past.
When writing this book, we wanted to include some of the regular things you might encounter when you are out enjoying all the great outdoors has to offer. Having some prior knowledge and knowing how to deal with certain things as best as possible, while also having a bit of humor involved is always the best way to approach a problem. So we tried to keep it light and fun, yet as educational as possible. This book should help prepare you for several different outdoor excursions you might have, such as camping, maneuvering a trailer, horses, and some great tips for an overnight trip into the mountains Living in Northwest Montana all our lives, all the things in this book have been done at one time or another. They are pretty ordinary things to do for our family and friends. Not necessarily ordinary in other parts of the country, living in the big sky country makes you tough, hardy, and a resourceful person.
