The most important cereal crop that revolutionized agriculture and wiped out hunger and starvation from the face of the world is wheat. Among the world's most important food grains it ranks next to the rice. It is taken in various forms by more than one thousand million human beings in the world. In terms of production wheat occupies the prime position among the food crop in the world. India occupies a second position in area and production amongst the wheat growing countries of the world. In this book, I focus on the lab to land initiative aims at achieving improvement in the quality of life of people by bringing into fruition provision of the programmed for the development and welfare of the people in rural areas. This book is an attempt to furnish student and teachers the information at one place in consolidate and precise manner.
It is evident from results presented elsewhere that applications of sulphur and zinc either alone or in combination have beneficial effect on soil properties or plant growth. It is mainly due to sulphur application on the waste land having alkaline reaction. Experimental crops Jatropha and mint have also shown beneficial effect on soil properties and plant growth. Sulphur in soil may produce sulphuric acid which is able to decline alkalinity of the concerned experimental soil. As a result concerned problem soil has become almost normal.
In this book, I focus on screening the plant species for their capacity of scavenging heavy metals from contaminated soil and sludge. As we all know, heavy metal contamination is of special concern due to widespread reports emanating both from India and abroad about various diseases and disorders observed both in human and livestock due to metal toxicity. This book is an attempt to furnish student and teachers the information at one place in consolidates and precise manner.

In order to increase food production with demand from an ever increasing population, integration of multiple sources to combat climate change will be necessary. Those affected the most by these changes will be underdeveloped and developing countries. In the face of global climate change, India, the second most populous country, must utilize all resources whether genetic, technical, or agronomic to ensure adequate food and water production for the projected increase in population. Preparing for global climate change is possible through collective efforts on a national and global level and will help alleviate any problems we encounter in the future.
