THE SCHOOL FESTIVAL
The dying days of summer proved highly eventful for the Oikawa sisters.
A spectacular fireworks festival brought Kanon and Saki closer than
ever, while Rinne struck up a friendship with Sara Chiyama, the new
transfer student, after Sara opened up about her condition. When Rinne
invites Sara over to her house, Kanon is equal parts shocked and
thrilled to see her little sister finally thinking of her own
happiness. Meanwhile, Kanon, Saki, and their classmates prepare to
welcome guests to their makeshift maid café. Kanon’s already feeling
anxious about the prospect of taking orders, but an even bigger
challenge awaits in the form of the school choir contest. Can Kanon
conduct her class to victory?
A high school girl's chance encounter with an enigmatic female
classmate whose musical aspirations were complicated when an
accident almost completely took her hearing leads to the slow
blossoming of love. One rainy night, Saki is rushing to a piano
lesson when she crashes into a beautiful, long-haired girl,
dropping her sheet music in the process. Saki stutters an apology,
but the girl simply hands back her sheet music and leaves without a
word. Saki begins her first day of high school the following
morning, only to find the stranger from the night before sitting in
the desk next to hers. She learns that the girl's name is Kanon and
that she is not quite completely deaf, but very hard of hearing.
Though Kanon needs to be close to people to read their lips, she
tends to push people away with her icy demeanor. Through one kind
gesture, Saki slowly begins breaking down the walls around Kanon,
even as she feels something new blossoming within her.

Saki gets confronted by Kanon’s fiercely protective younger
sister, Rinne, who suspects Saki of harboring ulterior motives
toward Kanon. Things come to a head when Rinne storms out of the
house one evening, forcing Kanon and Saki to go looking for her in
the dead of night. Worried that she won’t be able to see or hear
cars coming up behind them, Kanon asks Saki to hold her hand. Why
does this simple act set Saki’s heart racing? Could it be...

FIREWORKS

feelings. Has Kanon finally learned the truth? Even as Saki agonizes

festivities and the prospect of a new school term. When Saki sees a

decides to invite Kanon over to watch the fireworks from her balcony,
and Kanon happily agrees. As the sky above explodes with bursts of
color, Kanon and Saki draw ever closer...
