From the tapestry of human history and experience, some individuals
rise above the fabric's common braid and seem destined for great
achievements. Richard Fisher was one of these souls. In A Life Well
Built, author Lee Kelley tells the story of this natural-born
leader who was an extraordinary soldier, father, husband, pilot,
engineer, and friend.
Raised in Ohio, Richard "Dick" Fisher showed natural signs of
leadership at a young age. This biography spans his
lifetime-through ninety years and twenty-six countries-and touches
on his widespread successes. It follows him from the Ohio State
University School of Engineering, to the Pennsylvania Railroad, to
his work as an engineer in Ohio, and to building airports for the
Army during World War II. A lifelong pilot, he flew airplanes and
managed operations for Air America. He co-piloted the last aircraft
to escape Saigon when the Vietnam War began and retired from the
Army as a brigadier general.
A Life Well Built shows the depth of this man who accomplished
feats that most people could only dream of. This biography
demonstrates that Fisher's life was a solid, inspired piece of
engineering; he created a personal masterpiece in the art of
living.
Already a freelance writer, Lee started a blog when he was sent to
Iraq with the U.S. Army in 2005. His family and friends expected to
read of his experiences, and a blog was the perfect medium. A
hometown reporter visited his unit in Iraq, and Lee ended up on the
front page of the Salt Lake Tribune. That's how it all began. Since
then, he's been featured in TIME magazine, read some of his work on
National Public Radio, written four books, and been included in 5
anthologies. Here are 53 of the most popular essays. They have been
adapted from the blog, and writing that he's done in other forums,
such as The New York Times and Doonesbury.com. All of the work in
this book was either written while he was still in Iraq or as a
direct result of his experiences there.

This volume constitutes a radical revision and extension of the
author's 1938 Tables. Herein is an extensive table of normal
probability functions. 3-point interpolation coefficients are given
with 4 figure arguments. These coefficients are compensatorily
rounded off to five figures. A similar rounding off to seven
figures of 4-point coefficients has been made. Truman Kelley's
method for normalizing variance ratios, which he presents together
with tables facilitating the process, is of particular importance
for experimental scientists.

Col. Ray "Frenchy" L'Heureux always dreamed of being a pilot.
Growing up, he built airplane models and dreamed about soaring over
the earth. When he was twelve, his mother treated him to a flying
lesson at the local airfield. Taken on a short flight by an
instructor and allowed to operate the controls for part of the
flight, he was hooked forever. It wasn't until he was running low
on college funds and saw a recruiter at his college that he joined
the Marines and began the journey towards his dream from Parris
Island to Bravo Company and, then, officer training school. One day
at an airfield when President Reagan landed on this way to a
fundraiser, Frenchy's life changed forever when encountered HMX1,
the squadron that flies the President in Marine One. When he saw
the white-topped Sea King and White Hawk helicopters, he was
determined to become part of that elite group. Inside Marine One is
Col. L'Heureux's inspiring story of a young man who dreamed of
flying, trained, studied and worked hard to become the pilot who
ended up serving four US Presidents - George H.W. Bush, Bill
Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. It's also a personal
guided tour inside the world's most famous helicopter by a man who
knows that flying machine better than any other. Inside Marine One
is a great American success story of a young boy who dreamed big,
worked hard and finally flew the President of the United States as
his number one passenger.
