Thermal Energy Storage Analyses and Designs (Paperback): Pei-Wen Li, Cho Lik Chan Thermal Energy Storage Analyses and Designs (Paperback)
Pei-Wen Li, Cho Lik Chan
R2,876 R2,674 Discovery Miles 26 740 Save R202 (7%) Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Thermal Energy Storage Analyses and Designs considers the significance of thermal energy storage systems over other systems designed to handle large quantities of energy, comparing storage technologies and emphasizing the importance, advantages, practicalities, and operation of thermal energy storage for large quantities of energy production. Including chapters on thermal storage system configuration, operation, and delivery processes, in particular the flow distribution, flow arrangement, and control for the thermal charge and discharge processes for single or multiple thermal storage containers, the book is a useful reference for engineers who design, install, or maintain storage systems.

Night and Day - A Novel (Paperback): Abdulhamid Sulaymon o'g'li Cho'lpon Night and Day - A Novel (Paperback)
Abdulhamid Sulaymon o'g'li Cho'lpon; Translated by Christopher Fort
R655 R588 Discovery Miles 5 880 Save R67 (10%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Night (1934), the first novel of Abdulhamid Sulaymon o'g'li Cho'lpon's unfinished dilogy of novels, Night and Day, gives readers a glimpse into the everyday struggles of men and women in Russian imperial Turkestan. More than just historical prose, Cho'lpon's magnum opus reads as poetic elegy and turns on dramatic irony. Though it depicts the terrible fate of a young girl condemned to marry a sexual glutton, nothing is what it seems. Readers find themselves questioning the nature of women's liberation, colonialism, resistance, and even the intentions of the author, whose life and sequel, Day, were lost to Stalinist terror.

Interactions of C, N, P and S Biogeochemical Cycles and Global Change (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed.... Interactions of C, N, P and S Biogeochemical Cycles and Global Change (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1993)

R5,665 Discovery Miles 56 650 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book is a natural extension of the SCOPE (Scientific Committee of Problems on the Environment) volumes on the carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) biogeochemical cycles and their interactions (Likens, 1981; Bolin and Cook, 1983). Substantial progress in the knowledge of these cycles has been made since publication of those volumes. In particular, the nature and extent of biological and inorganic interactions between these cycles have been identified, positive and negative feedbacks recognized and the relationship between the cycles and global environmental change preliminarily elucidated. In March 1991, a NATO Advanced Research Workshop was held for one week in Melreux, Belgium to reexamine the biogeochemical cycles of C, N, P and S on a variety of time and space scales from a holistic point of view. This book is the result of that workshop. The biogeochemical cycles of C, N, P and S are intimately tied to each other through biological productivity and subsequently to problems of global environmental change. These problems may be the most challenging facing humanity in the 21 st century. In the broadest sense, "global change" encompasses both changes to the status of the large, globally connected atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial environments (e. g. tropospheric temperature increase) and change occurring as the result of nearly simultaneous local changes in many regions of the world (e. g. eutrophication).
