There isn't a jollier show anywhere than this musical version of
The Pickwick Papers. It exactly catches the cheerful and
good-hearted spirit of the gentleman with the bald head and round
glasses who is its hero. the well-loved story, the tuneful music
and witty lyrics provide a recipe that can't fail to delight
audiences. The famous "If I Ruled the World" is just one of a host
of strong numbers, and there is plenty of work for chorus and

The life and good times of one of the world's favourite
songwriters. If you've ever hummed a popular film or stage song
from the mid-1950s on, the chances are you've been humming one of
Leslie's. The man behind songs such as Talk to the Animals,
Goldfinger, Feeling Good and Pure Imagination has been celebrated
throughout the music industry. The result is a string of awards to
his name, including a Grammy, a couple of Oscars (as well as ten
nominations) and eight Ivor Novellos. Leslie's story of talent,
determination and a little bit of luck will take you on a
fascinating journey from humble beginnings through this hardest of
businesses to dizzying heights. Over the years, Leslie has
collaborated with a dazzling array of stage and screen stars,
including Rex Harrison, Peter O'Toole, Albert Finney, Richard
Attenborough, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Julie Andrews, Roger
Moore, Liza Minelli and Peter Sellers, and of course his
sensational songwriting partnerships with Anthony Newley as well as
with composers Henry Mancini, John Williams and John Barry. "Candid
and hilarious, you'll devour Leslie Bricusse's autobiography in one
delicious sitting. His recall is amazing and I can vouch for the
authenticity." Joan Collins "His catalogue of songs is enormous -
his achievements endless." Elton John "The book made me laugh aloud
so many times. I'm in awe that you have pulled off such a
monumental feat." Julie Andrews
The Henry in question in "Henry VIII of England" and here, his six
famous wives and their stories are given a light-hearted and
slightly irreverent treatment. Staying with the known facts of
events but gently fabricating circumstances, this is an exciting
and fast-moving glimpse at a slice of English history. Songs in
"Henry's Wives" include "The Grape and the Vine", "The Perfect
Woman", "Kings and Clowns" and "Husbands and Wives". The musical
can be staged quite simply with minimum casting or can be elaborate
with added chorus, as circumstances allow. The musical was first
seen in London under the title "Kings and Clowns", featuring Frank
Finlay, Elizabeth Counsell and Dilys Watling.
What appears at first to be the final confrontation between master
detective Sherlock Holmes and his perennial arch-enemy, Professor
Moriarty, proves to be more than even Holmes bargained for: he
finds himself facing an old-but-new enemy whose determination to
outwit and destroy the great detective is even greater than before.
The ensuing intellectual cat and mouse games between these two
larger-than-life figures form the exciting centrepiece of this
original musical based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's characters.5
