Imaging Genetics presents the latest research in imaging genetics methodology for discovering new associations between imaging and genetic variables, providing an overview of the state-of the-art in the field. Edited and written by leading researchers, this book is a beneficial reference for students and researchers, both new and experienced, in this growing area. The field of imaging genetics studies the relationships between DNA variation and measurements derived from anatomical or functional imaging data, often in the context of a disorder. While traditional genetic analyses rely on classical phenotypes like clinical symptoms, imaging genetics can offer richer insights into underlying, complex biological mechanisms.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Multimodal Brain Image Analysis, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2012, in Nice, France, in October 2012. The 19 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The objective of this workshop is to forward the state of the art in analysis methodologies, algorithms, software systems, validation approaches, benchmark datasets, neuroscience, and clinical applications.
During the past 20 years, endometrial carcinoma has continued to increase in frequency and it is quite possible that this carcinoma will become the major gynecologic malignancy in the future. For many years, endometrial carcinoma was considered less malignant than other gynecologic malignancies, simple hysterectomy and bil ateral salpingo-oophorectomy or surgery combined with radiation being effective in certain circumstances. It is unfortunate to note that the global 5-year survival rate for patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial carcinoma has improved only slightly. Therefore any complacency regarding this 'benign malignancy' should be reconsidered. There is a growing awareness of the nature of end ometrial carcinoma, with advances in our knowledge ranging from its etiology through its epidemiology to its clinical findings. This volume has been designed to fill a hiatus in the literature in China. To achieve this aim, we have attempted to review the world-wide advances on endometrial carcinoma and summarize systematically and comprehensively this common gynecologic malig nancy, including the clinical experiences gathered at the Cancer Institute (Hospital) of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences since 1958 as well as a brief description of the psychological problems in patients with gyneco logic cancers."
This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Multimodal Brain Image Analysis, MBAI 2019, and the 7th International Workshop on Mathematical Foundations of Computational Anatomy, MFCA 2019, held in conjunction with the 22nd International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2019, in Shenzhen, China, in October 2019. The 16 full papers presented at MBAI 2019 and the 7 full papers presented at MFCA 2019 were carefully reviewed and selected. The MBAI papers intend to move forward the state of the art in multimodal brain image analysis, in terms of analysis methodologies, algorithms, software systems, validation approaches, benchmark datasets, neuroscience, and clinical applications. The MFCA papers are devoted to statistical and geometrical methods for modeling the variability of biological shapes. The goal is to foster the interactions between the mathematical community around shapes and the MICCAI community around computational anatomy applications.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Multimodal Brain Image Analysis, MBIA 2013, held in Nagoya, Japan, on September 22, 2013 in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention, MICCAI. The 24 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 35 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on analysis, methodologies, algorithms, software systems, validation approaches, benchmark datasets, neuroscience and clinical applications.
