Resource Allocation in Unlicensed Long Term Evolution HetNets (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018): Huaqing Zhang, Sami Khairy, Lin X.... Resource Allocation in Unlicensed Long Term Evolution HetNets (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018)
Huaqing Zhang, Sami Khairy, Lin X. Cai, Zhu Han
R1,557 Discovery Miles 15 570 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This SpringerBrief investigates cross layer resource allocation in unlicensed LTE (Long Term Evolution) HetNets. Specifically, the authors study and cover the radio access management of unlicensed LTE to allow efficient spectrum utilization and harmonious coexistence with other unlicensed systems in this brief. Efficient radio access protocols are developed to allow unlicensed LTE users to fair share channel access with unlicensed users in different systems, including Wi-Fi and unlicensed LTE of other operators. An analytical model is developed to study the performance of the proposed protocols. To achieve efficient spectrum sharing among various unlicensed users, the authors further formulate a resource allocation problem based on Nobel Prize winning game theory framework, and propose efficient algorithms to achieve the maximal user utility. Opportunistic traffic offloading from licensed band to unlicensed bands is also investigated, based on the network formation game. By exploiting the characteristics of mobile social networks, the offloading performance can be further enhanced. This brief targets researchers and engineers from both academia and industry interested in the development of LTE over unlicensed bands, as well as the design and implementation of cross layer radio resource management. Students studying electrical engineering and computer science will also find this brief useful for their studies.

Next Generation Marine Wireless Communication Networks (1st ed. 2022): Bin Lin, Jianli Duan, Mengqi Han, Lin X. Cai Next Generation Marine Wireless Communication Networks (1st ed. 2022)
Bin Lin, Jianli Duan, Mengqi Han, Lin X. Cai
R3,680 Discovery Miles 36 800 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book presents a novel framework design for  the next generation Marine Wireless Communication Networks (MWCNs). The authors first provide an overview of MWCNs, followed by a discussion of challenges in the design and development of MWCNs in support of a diversity of marine services such as real-time marine monitoring, offshore oil exploration, drilling, marine tourism and fishing. The authors then propose cross layer networking solutions to achieve a high performance modern MWCN that enables efficient and reliable data transmissions under hostile marine environment, which include the network deployment, the physical layer channel coding, intelligent network access and resource management, and learning-based opportunistic routing. Finally, the authors summarize the book and present some open issues that will lead to new research directions in the next generation MWCNs.

Sustainable Wireless Networks (Paperback, 2013 ed.): Zhongming Zheng, Lin X. Cai, Xuemin Shen Sustainable Wireless Networks (Paperback, 2013 ed.)

R1,724 Discovery Miles 17 240 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This brief focuses on network planning and resource allocation by jointly considering cost and energy sustainability in wireless networks with sustainable energy. The characteristics of green energy and investigating existing energy-efficient green approaches for wireless networks with sustainable energy is covered in the first part of this brief. The book then addresses the random availability and capacity of the energy supply. The authors explore how to maximize the energy sustainability of the network and minimize the failure probability that the mesh access points (APs) could deplete their energy and put the network out of service due to the unreliable energy supply. This brief also studies network resource management issues in green wireless networks to minimize cost. It jointly considers the relay node (RN) placement and sub-carrier allocation (RNP-SA) issues in wireless networks with sustainable energy, and then formulates the problem into a mixed integer non-linear programming problem. Concise and informative, this brief is a useful resource for professionals or researchers studying wireless networks, communication networks, and energy efficiency. Advanced-level students interested in energy technology or communications engineering will also find the material valuable.
