SHAMANISM / SPIRITUALITY"Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt is a valuable contribution toward uniting Science and Spirit. Combining ancient wisdom with guided shamanic journeys, it offers readers an opportunity to experience personal evolution through merging the knowledge of the mind (the source of Science) with the awareness of the heart (the source of Spirit)." --Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D., author of The Biology of Belief "This book is based upon a startling premise--that the deities of ancient Egypt embody and express the myriad aspects of Nature as archetypal forces that have 'overseen' the human experiment from the very beginnings of our long journey across eternity. This compelling book will change the lives of its readers. I couldn't put it down!" --Hank Wesselman, Ph.D., author of the Spiritwalker Trilogy and The Journey to the Sacred Garden In Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt, Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf renew humanity's connection to the ancient gods of Egypt, the neteru. Voices from these divine ancestors remind us of the healing power of the heart, and call us to bring their consciousness into the present to help us remember our true nature as divine humans with sacred purpose. The authors provide rituals, meditations, and rites of passage that allow us to meet our personal and planetary challenges with grace, wisdom, and love. The shamanic initiations provided are invoked, directly experienced, and transformed into embodied wisdom that awakens consciousness and illumines the intelligence of the heart.Scully and Star Wolf focus their rituals on twenty-six of the primary divine entities that preside over the ancient mysteries whose roots are in Old Kingdom and prehistoric Egypt. Thisfresh interpretation of ancient mysteries unites the energies of Thoth and Anubis to guide us through the current cycle of Earth changes and to help us remember who we really are at heart. Through these passages, Anubis lives up to his ancient title as the Opener of the Way, and Thoth as the Architect of Higher Learning. Together they evoke their power to unite heart and mind in the sacred marriage that brings transformation, renewal, and the awakening of consciousness.Nicki Scully has been a healer and teacher of shamanism and the Egyptian mysteries since 1983. She lectures worldwide and specializes in spiritual tours to sacred sites in Egypt, Peru, and other countries. The author of Power Animal Meditations and Alchemical Healing, she lives in Eugene, Oregon. Linda Star Wolf is the founder of Venus Rising Institute for Shamanic Healing Arts. She is a shamanic guide who has led transformational workshops in the United States and abroad since 1984. She lives in North Carolina.

Pope John Paul II expected theologians to expand their insights of the 129 lectures given during his Wednesday audiences in St. Peter's Square and Paul VI Audience Hall between September 1979 and November 1984. However, his integrated vision of the human person - body, soul, and spirit - has rarely gone beyond the popular topics of moral theology associated with sexuality and marriage. Now, Susan Windley-Daoust, a passionate disciple of John Paul's complete work, devoted spiritual director, and popular Assistant Professor of Theology at St. Mary's University of Minnesota, extends the Theology of the Body to what it means to be human during the experiences of childbirth, impairment, and dying. Are there spiritual signs in these bodily events that are central to the human experience? Oh yes And the signs mysteriously and wonderfully point to God.

Linda Wolfe's MY DAUGHTER/MYSELF is a wrenching, highly personal and deeply moving story of a family in crisis and a compelling testament to the powerful and universal bonds of the mother/daughter relationship. By turns a medical mystery and a family drama, Wolfe's book chronicles her thirty-eight-year-old daughter's out-of-the-blue, near-fatal stroke, and the fascinating process of physical and mental rehabilitation that allowed her daughter to make an astonishing recovery. With the same eye for detail and psychological astuteness that marked her many cover stories for New York Magazine, Wolfe makes vivid every agonizing moment, from the disastrous mistakes of some doctors and the miraculous intercessions of others, to the terrors that haunt the children of an illness-stricken parent, to the painful, inevitable - and sometimes funny - disputes that arise when a mother-in-law and son-in-law must share the same roof, and the innumerable struggles and difficult choices that face the young stroke survivor. Beautifully written and observed, MY DAUGHTER/MYSELF is an inspiring account of how a mother learns to take life's blows as they come, to master the unfamiliar language of illness and, ultimately, to let her daughter be her guide as, together, they march through an altogether new terrain. The Author: Linda Wolfe, a longtime contributing editor at New York magazine, is an award-winning journalist and novelist. Among her many books are the novel "Private Practices," the nonfiction books "Wasted: The Preppie Murder" and "The Murder of Dr. Chapman," and the culinary classic "The Literary Gourmet." Learn more at LindaWolfe.com. Linda Wolfe s harrowing and moving account of her family s crisis is an intensely personal and universal testament to the mother/daughter bond. Hilma Wolitzer, author of "An Available Man" Linda Wolfe is a superb journalist and a fine novelist and critic, but she has surpassed herself with this eloquent and gripping memoir about her daughter s near brush with death. A must read I could not put it down. Patricia Bosworth, author of "Anything Your Little Heart Desires: An American Family Story" Even during the scariest, most heart-stopping passages, it s a pleasure to read Linda Wolfe s triumphant story of a precious daughter s stroke and recovery. Alix Kates Shulman, author of "To Love What Is" Engrossing. Moving. Powerful. This account of a daughter s debilitating stroke and arduous recovery comes from a place of intense fear and helplessness, and by looking as much inward as outward, Wolfe tells an utterly human story of unexpected resilience: her own and her daughter s. Socialization of accelerated baccalaureate nursing graduates from the perspective of the affective domain specifically, the feeling of being a nurse, has not been studied. The purpose of the phenomenological study was to investigate socialization from the perspective of the feeling of being a nurse of accelerated B.S.N. graduates. Semi-structured, face to face interviews were conducted with eight graduates of an accelerated B.S.N. program. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's procedural steps. The following findings emerged: (1) The feeling of being a nurse, an attribute of professional identity, coincided with the occurrence of specific incidents during induction socialization; (2) The feeling of being a nurse is a sense of becoming, involving personal commitment and internalization of values during the process of professional socialization; and (3) accelerated BSN graduates have a deep sense of commitment to nursing.

The largest-ever sexual survey of American women Bigger by far than the Kinsey Report or any other sexual study of American women, the Cosmo Report is a landmark work about female behavior. The report is based on the responses of more than one hundred thousand readers of Cosmopolitan magazine to a questionnaire about their sexual habits and preferences. But what makes the book more than a mere set of statistics—however revealing—is that many of the respondents augmented their replies with highly personal letters detailing the sexual practices they engaged in, the ones they most enjoyed, the ones they abhorred, and how they felt about the sexual revolution that transformed the lives of women in the 1970s and 1980s.

Did they keep their affairs secret or admit them to partners or friends? And, whether confessed or not, how did infidelity affect the women’s lives?   Intimate and explosive, Playing Around explores the pleasures and pains of female infidelity and illuminates women’s participation in a behavior that is often viewed as predominantly male.

A New York Times Notable Book: Acclaimed true-crime journalist Linda Wolfe delivers a riveting, comprehensive account of the Preppie Murder, a crime that shocked a city and a nation. It was called the Preppie Murder-a killer and a victim who were attractive, smart, privileged teenagers. On an August night in 1986 Jennifer Levin left a Manhattan bar with Robert Chambers. The next morning, her strangled, battered body was found in Central Park. Linda Wolfe, hailed by critic John Leonard as "one of our best reporters," goes beyond the headlines and media hype to re-create a story of privilege and excess, sex and partying-of a teenager whose immigrant mother was determined to make a better life for her son, a petty thief and drug user who'd been expelled from the best schools. It's all here, from the initial police investigation, during which Chambers claimed Levin died accidentally during rough sex, to the media frenzy of the courtroom, where Chambers took an eleventh-hour plea. Wolfe also delivers heartbreaking portraits of Levin's grief-stricken father, Chambers's in-denial mother, and the women who dated the accused Preppie Killer while he was out on bail. A finalist for the 1990 Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime, Wasted also powerfully depicts the freewheeling 1980s society that spawned a generation steeped in violence and the fatal impulses that drove Robert Chambers to kill.
