This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Architecture of Computing Systems, ARCS 2007, held in Zurich, Switzerland in March 2007. The 20 revised full papers presented together with 1 invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from 83 submissions. The papers cover a broad range of research topics related to basic technology, architecture, and application of computing systems with a strong focus on system aspects of pervasive computing and self organization techniques in both organic and autonomic computing.
This volume contains the proceedings of the 8th Workshop on Hybrid S- tems: Computation and Control(HSCC2005)heldinZurich, Switzerlandduring March 9-11, 2005. The annual workshop on hybrid systems attracts researchers from academia and industry interested in modeling, analysis, and implemen- tion of dynamic and reactive systems involving both discrete and continuous - haviors. The previous workshops in the HSCC series were held in Berkeley, USA (1998), Nijmegen, TheNetherlands(1999), Pittsburgh, USA(2000), Rome, Italy (2001), Palo Alto, USA (2002), Prague, Czech Republic (2003), and Philad- phia, USA (2004). This year's HSCC was technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society. The program consisted of 3 invited talks and 40 regular papers selected from 91 regular submissions. The program covered topics such as tools for analysis and veri?cation, control and optimization, modeling, engineering applications, and emerging directions in programming language support and implementation. We would like to thank the Program Committee members and reviewers for anexcellentjobofevaluatingthesubmissionsandparticipatingintheonlineP- gram Committee discussions. Special thanks go to Markus P. J. Fromherz (Palo Alto Research Center, USA), Edward A. Lee (University of California, Berkeley, USA), and Pablo A. Parrilo (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) for their participation as invited speakers. We are also grateful to the Steering C- mitteeforhelpfulguidanceandsupport. Manyotherpeopleworkedhardtomake the HSCC 2005 a success. We would like to thank Frank J. Christophersen and Ernesto Wandeler, the Publicity Chairs (with the help of Urban M] ader); M- tine D'Emma and Monica Fricker for local arrangements; and Frank J. Chris- phersen for putting together the proceedings."
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization, EMO 2003, held in Faro, Portugal, in April 2003. The 56 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 100 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on objective handling and problem decomposition, algorithm improvements, online adaptation, problem construction, performance analysis and comparison, alternative methods, implementation, and applications.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International Conference on Multi-Criterion Optimization, EMO 2001, held in Zurich, Switzerland in March 2001.The 45 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 87 submissions. Also included are two tutorial surveys and two invited papers. The book is organized in topical sections on algorithm improvements, performance assessment and comparison, constraint handling and problem decomposition, uncertainty and noise, hybrid and alternative methods, scheduling, and applications of multi-objective optimization in a variety of fields.
The ASM 2000 workshop was held in the conference center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) at Monte Verit a, Canton Ticino, March 19-24, 2000. The ASM formalism was proposed together with the thesis that it is suitable to model arbitrary computer systems on arbitrary abstraction levels. ASMs have been successfully used to analyze and specify various hardware and software systems including numerous computer languages. The aim of the workshop was to bring together domain-experts, using ASMs as a practical speci cation method, and theorists working with ASMs and related methods. In addition the workshop served as a forum on theoretical and practical topics that relate to ASMs in a broad sense. Three tutorials including hands-on experience with tools were organized by U. Gl]asser and G. del Castillo (on the topic \Specifying Concurrent Systems with ASMs"), H. Russ ] and N. Shankar (on the topic \A Tutorial Introduction to PVS"), M. Anlau, P.W. Kutter, and A. Pierantonio (on the topic \Developing Domain Speci c Languages"). In response to the organization committee's call for papers, 30 papers were submitted, each of which was independently reviewed by four members of the program committee. This volume presents a selection of 12 of the refereed papers and two reports on industrial ASM application at Siemens AG and Microsoft Research, together with contributions based on the invited talks given by A."
