This work is a list of books about families who have Texas roots.
Most of the approximately 2,500 books are found in the collections
of the Library of Congress, The Daughters of the American
Revolution Library in Washington, D.C., or the National
Genealogical Society Library in Arlington, Virginia. It is
interesting to note that very few histories of Texas families were
written prior to 1910. For this reason the authors have added about
sixty pages of other books, including county histories and other
references to Texas families, that will be helpful to any
genealogist researching a Texas family. The authors have also
included a list of major Texas libraries with genealogical
collections. The books are arranged alphabetically by surname. A
bibliography and a full name index are included.
This book is the sixth and last volume in a series compiled from
records originally collected by members of the Delaware chapters of
the Daughters of the American Revolution. Most of the family
records deal with the late 1700s through the early 1900s, though
many extend beyond this point. As in the previous volumes, the
records are listed alphabetically by principal family name. In
addition to marriage, birth and death information; newspaper
clippings, handwritten notes (attached to or written on the pages),
and personal letters found in the bibles, are also transcribed.
Donald O. Virdin compiled the first three volumes; Donald M. Hehir
compiled the fourth; and Luverne V. Hall and Mr. Virdin the fifth.
This is the largest volume in the series, which is a must for
anyone interested in genealogy in the mid-Atlantic region.
This handy guidebook to existing published works belongs in the
library of anyone searching for their New England ancestors, or
researching Massachusetts family histories and genealogies. The
author has researched and compiled this valuable bibliographic
reference tool from the abundance of genealogical works about
Massachusetts family histories and genealogies that are available
to the public. Bibliographic references are grouped alphabetically
by family name, with titles arranged alphabetically by author.
Individual book listings contain author, publisher and publication
date (as available) to make location easier. This volume also
provides a list of the major Massachusetts libraries, codes to
library abbreviations with a very brief glossary, a list of
Massachusetts genealogical societies, a bibliography and a fullname
index.
