This book summarizes the technical method and construction process
of pipe jacking. It has a total of 17 chapters and one appendix. It
includes how to prepare the pipe jacking construction, how to
choose the pipe and equipment for jacking, how to choose the
engineering environment, how to do the geological survey before
jacking, how to design the working pit, what's the procedure of
pipe jacking, how to do the measurement and monitoring during
jacking, how to do the treatment and acceptance after jacking, and
so on. Appendix A contains reference tables for pipe jacking
archives, which might aid readers in understanding the book's
content. This book's language is simple to read, and it has a
wealth of graphics. Even those without a foundational understanding
of pipe jacking could read and comprehend it with ease. This
regulation could be the fundamental discipline for pipeline jacking
projects. It is the important basis and criterion for the design,
construction, management, inspection, and acceptance of pipeline
jacking.
This book summarizes the technical method and construction process
of underground pipeline testing, cleaning, updating and repairing.
It has 20 chapters and an appendix in total. Its content includes:
Pipeline rehabilitation construction organization design, Pipeline
cleaning, Preparations before construction, Pipeline detection and
quality assessment, Pipeline rehabilitation design/method/equipment
selection/steps/technical indicators, Pipe Cracking & Bursting
method, Sliplining method, Pipe Segments Method, Lining with
Inserted hose(improved) method, Cured in place pipe(CIPP), Spray
lining, Spiral winding method, Spot repair method, universal
construction techniques, construction of general rules, the
engineering quality acceptance, construction health, safety,
environmental protection and production management, and so on. The
appendix is the interpretation for the relevant technical terms in
this book. It could help the reader who doesn't have the basic
knowledge about pipe rehabilitation to understand this technology
easily. This regulation could be the fundamental discipline for
pipeline renewal projects in different industries. It could provide
the important basis and criterion for design, construction,
management, inspection and acceptance of pipeline renewal projects.
This book examines how educational change has progressed in three
contrasting areas spread across China since 1990, exploring key
issues concerning rural education in poor, rich and minority areas.
Of the three areas covered in this book, the first is a rich one
near Beijing; the second is in the northwest in Shanxi on the Loess
plateau; and the third is in Sichuan on the high plateau leading to
Tibet. Central issues include the impact of large-scale demographic
change and migration, with increasing numbers of left-behind
children in sending areas, and large increases in the numbers of
inbound migrants in receiving areas; dramatic increases in the
boarding of children in rural areas as a result of rural school
merge; changing patterns of teacher deployment; recentralization of
responsibilities for school financing; and growing concerns
regarding horizontal and vertical inequalities in both access and
participation.
Over-pumping of aquifers is a worldwide problem, mainly caused by
agricultural water use. Among its consequences are the falling dry
of streams and wetlands, soil subsidence, die-off of phreatophytic
vegetation, saline water intrusion, increased pumping cost and loss
of storage needed for drought relief. Stopping or reversing the
trend requires management interventions. The North China Plain
serves as an example. A management system is set up for a typical
county. It contains three components: monitoring, decision support
based on modelling, and implementation in the field. Besides all
monitoring data, the decision support module contains an irrigation
calculator, a box model, and a distributed groundwater model to
project the outcomes of different water allocation scenarios. In
view of grain security, a solution combines an adaptation of the
cropping system with imports of surface water from the South. The
Open Access book does not only describe the problem and the path to
its solution. It also gives access to nine manuals concerning
methods used. They include computer programs and the game Save the
Water. The Chinese experience should be of considerable interest to
other regions in the world which suffer from over-pumping of
aquifers.
"Global tea science: Current status and future needs would suit the
library of any botanical enthusiast or academic, with its
comprehensive collection of relevant chapters. The humble tea leaf
has might roots indeed." (Plant Science Bulletin - Botanical
Society of America) Tea is the most widely-consumed beverage in the
world. Like other crops, tea cultivation faces a number of
challenges. With the challenge of climate change and the
competition for scarce resources, there is a need to make tea
cultivation more efficient and sustainable. Cultivation needs also
to be more resilient to biotic and abiotic stresses, whether it be
pests or more extreme weather (e.g. drought) associated with global
warming. Fortunately, there is a range of research addressing these
challenges. Drawing on an international range of expertise, this
collection summarises this research by focusing on ways of
improving the cultivation of tea at each step in the value chain,
from breeding through to harvest. Part 1 reviews advances in
breeding. Part 2 discusses improvements in cultivation techniques.
The book then discusses plant protection and chemistry before
concluding with sustainability issues. As the need for more
interdisciplinary and collaborative research increases, this
collection will be a standard reference for the tea research
community by summarising key research trends in each topic and
putting them in the context of tea cultivation as a whole.

This brief presents the novel PHY layer technique, attachment
transmission, which provides an extra control panel with minimum
overhead. In addition to describing the basic mechanisms of this
technique, this brief also illustrates the challenges, the
theoretical model, implementation and numerous applications of
attachment transmission. Extensive experiments demonstrate that
attachment transmission is capable of exploiting and utilizing
channel redundancy to deliver control information and thus it can
provide significant support to numerous higher layer applications.
The authors also address the critical problem of providing
cost-effective coordination mechanisms for wireless design. The
combination of new techniques and implementation advice makes this
brief a valuable resource for researchers and professionals
interested in wireless penetration and communication networks.

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of
the 2nd International Conference on Edge Computing and IoT, ICECI
2021, held in December 2021 in Shenzhen, China. Due to COVID-19
pandemic the conference was held virtually. The explosion of the
big data generated by ubiquitous edge devices motivates the
emergence of applying machine learning systems for edge computing
and Internet of Things (IoT) services. Machine learning techniques
are delivering a promising solution to the industry for building
IoT systems and to make innovation at a rapid pace. The 12 full
papers of ICECI 2021 were selected from 26 submissions and present
results and ideas in the area of edge computing and IoT.
