Parallelanddistributedprocessing, althoughwithinthefocusofcomputerscience researchforalongtime, isgainingmoreandmoreimportanceinawidespectrum of applications. These proceedings aim to demonstrate the use of parallel and distributed processing concepts in di?erent application ?elds, and attempt to spark interest in novel research directions to advance the embracing model of high-performance computing research in general. The objective of these workshops is to speci?cally address researchers c- ing from university, industry and governmental research organizations and application-oriented companies, in order to close the gap between purely s- enti?c research and the applicability of the research ideas to real-life problems. Euro-Par is an annual series of international conferences dedicated to the promotionandadvancementofallaspectsofparallelanddistributedcomputing. The 2007 event was the 13th issue of the conference. Euro-Par has for a long time been eager to attract colocated events sharing the same goal of promoting the development of parallel and distributed computing, both as an industrial technique and an academic discipline, extending the frontier of both the state of the art and the state of the practice. Since 2006, Euro-Par o?ers researchersthe chance to colocate advanced technical workshops back-to-back with the main conference. This is for a mutual bene?t: the workshops can take advantage of all technical and social facilities which are set up for the conference, so that the organizational tasks are kept to a minimal level; the conference can rely on workshopstoexperimentwithspeci?careasofresearchwhicharenotyetmature enough, or too speci?c, to lead to an o?cial, full-?edged topic at the conferenc

timely work, the quality of this program would not be as high nor would the process have run so smoothly. Ialsowishtothanktheothersupportingcastmemberswhohelpedinputtingtogether thisprogram, includingthosewhoorganizedthekeynotes, tutorials, workshops, awards, poster session, industrial track session, and those who performed the administrative functions that are essential to the success of this conference. The work of Sushil K. Prasad in putting together the conference proceedings is also acknowledged, as well as the support provided by Mathieu Jan and Sebastien Monnet, PhD students at IRISA, in maintaining the CyberChair online paper submission and evaluation software. Last, but certainly not least, I express heartfelt thanks to our General Co-chairs, Viktor Prasanna and Uday Shukla, and to the Vice-General Chair, David A. Bader, for all their useful advice. The preparation of this conference was unfortunately marked by a very sad and unexpectedevent: thesuddendemiseofDr.UdayShukla, whowasastrongsupporterof HiPC over the past ten years. He passed away on July 20, 2004 after a very brief illness. Dr. Shukla had been involved in organizing HiPC since the beginning. In addition to his encouragement in organizing HiPC, Dr. Shukla was a strong supporter of research activitiesincomputerscienceandinformationtechnologyinIndia.Wewillmissafriend of HiP

R1,671 Discovery Miles 16 710 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume presents the proceedings of the joint meeting CONPAR 92 - VAPP V, held in Lyon, France, September 1992. The international Conferences on Parallel Processing (CONPAR) and the meetings on Vector and Parallel Processors in computational science (VAPP) have been held jointly since CONPAR 90 - VAPP IV, held in Zurich. The aim of the meeting presented in this volume is to review hardware and architecture developmentstogether with languages and software tools for supporting parallel processing and to highlight advances in models, algorithms, andapplications software on vector and parallel architectures. The papers in the volume are organized into sections on networks, software tools, distributed algorithms, dedicated architectures, numerical applications, systolic algorithms, parallel linear algebra, architectures, shared virtual memory, load balancing, data parallelism, parallel algorithms, image processing, compiling and scheduling, simulation and performance analysis, parallel artificialintelligence, dataflow architectures, parallel programming, and poster presentations.
