This book brings together in a review manner a comprehensive
summary of high-quality research contributions from the different
research teams and their collaborators, to celebrate the 25th
anniversary of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Animal
Health (CIISA). The topics span from animal behaviour and welfare
over biotechnology to clinical veterinary medicine. Thus, the book
is of interest for researchers and students working in the diverse
fields of veterinary medicine and science. The Centre for
Interdisciplinary Research in Animal Health (CIISA), the Research
Centre of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of
Lisbon, commemorated its 25th-year jubilee in 2018. Throughout its
history, CIISA has been consolidating as the top-ranking Portuguese
Animal and Veterinary Sciences research unit. More recently, CIISA
has taken a leading role in the coordination of national and
international research networks and consortiums. This conveyed a
highly interdisciplinary nature to CIISA's research, encompassing
animal, veterinary and biomedical sciences. This multi- and
interdisciplinary nature is reflected on the broad scientific
background of the team.

By providing an applied and modern approach, this volume will help
readers understand the value and relevance of studying case studies
and reviews on chemical and biochemical sciences. Presenting a
wide-ranging view of current developments in applied methodologies
in chemical and biochemical physics research, the papers in this
collection, all written by highly regarded experts in the field,
examine various aspects of chemical and biochemical physics and
experimentation. In the first section of this volume, many topics
are covered, such as trends in polymeric gas separation membranes,
trends in polymer/organoclay nanocomposites, synthesis of the
hybrid metal-polymer nanocomposite, oxidation of
polypropylene-graphite nanocomposites, and investigation on the
cleaning process of gas emissions. In section two, several case
studies and reviews in biochemical sciences are reported.
Does a bilingual person have two separate lexicons and two separate
grammatical systems? Or should the bilingual linguistic competence
be regarded as an integrated system? This book explores this issue,
which is central to current debate in the study of bilingualism,
and argues for an integrated hypothesis: the linguistic competence
of an individual is a single cognitive faculty, and the bilingual
mind should not be regarded as fundamentally different from the
monolingual one. This conclusion is backed up with a variety of
empirical data, in particular code-switching, drawn from a variety
of bilingual pairs. The book introduces key notions in minimalism
and distributed morphology, making them accessible to readers with
different scholarly foci. This book is of interest to those working
in linguistics and psycholinguistics, especially bilingualism,
code-switching, and the lexicon.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference
proceedings of the Third International ICST Conference on Sensor
Systems and Software, S-Cube 2012, held in Lisbon, Portugal in June
2012. The 12 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed
and selected from over 18 submissions and four invited talks and
cover a wide range of topics including middleware, frameworks,
learning from sensor data streams, stock management, e-health, and
Web Of Things.

In this volume, Luis Lopez sheds new light on information structure
and makes a significant contribution to work on grammatical
operations in the Minimalist Program. Through a careful analysis of
dislocations and focus fronting in Romance, the author shows that
notions such as 'topic' and 'focus', as usually defined, yield no
predictions and proposes instead a feature system based on the
notions 'discourse anaphor' and 'contrast'. He presents a detailed
model of syntax---information-structure interaction and argues that
this interaction takes place at the phase level, with a privileged
role for the edge of the phase. Further, he investigates phenomena
concerning the syntax of objects in Romance and Germanic -
accusative A, p-movement, clitic doubling, scrambling, object shift
- and shows that there are cross-linguistic correlations between
syntactic configuration and specificity, independent of discourse
connectedness. The volume ends with an extended analysis of the
syntax of dislocations in Romance."

colza, soja, otras oleaginosas (cartamo, lino y ricino) y tabaco.

collection includes books from the British Library digitised by
Microsoft. Titles in this collection provide cultural, statistical,
commercial, chronological and geo-economic histories of Central and
South America. This series also includes texts, reports, letters,
and illustrated and interpretive histories of indigenous peoples,
and the natural and built environments that have fascinated
historians for centuries. Along with written records, the
collection features transcribed oral histories and traditions
spanning the range of cultures and civilisations in the southern

The development of the information society and the improvement in
new technologies, especially with regard to handling large amounts
of data, now make it possible to manage volumes of data that would
have been unthinkable just few years ago. This has created a new
scenario around making business decisions. The information society
has provided publicly available population databases, and new
technologies have improved their performance in terms of processing
power and data analysis capabilities in an extraordinarily short
period of time. Advances in data storage standards also facilitate
the use of this tool by reducing the cost of transformation,
standardization and loading processes. Thanks to this framework,
Geographic Information Systems are particularly important again and
technical advances are used in business applications that are
taking over the world of business often related to location
decisions, and more recently for marketing and social aspects.
However, little has been written about the importance of
establishing a methodology to manage and take advantage of GIS as
part of a Decision Support System. This book provides a clear and
occurate methodology for it
