Superplasticity is a state in which solid crystalline materials, such as some fine-grained metals, are deformed well beyond their usual breaking point. The phenomenon is of importance in processes such as superplastic forming which allows the manufacture of complex, high-quality components in such areas as aerospace and biomedical engineering. Superplasticity and grain boundaries in ultrafine-grained materials discusses a number of problems associated with grain boundaries in metallic polycrystalline materials. The role of grain boundaries in processes such as grain boundary diffusion, relaxation and grain growth is investigated. The authors explore the formation and evolution of the microstructure, texture and ensembles of grain boundaries in materials produced by severe plastic deformation. Written by two leading experts in the field, Superplasticity and grain boundaries in ultrafine-grained materials significantly advances our understanding of this important phenomenon and will be an important reference work for metallurgists and those involved in superplastic forming processes.
Among all groups in Christendom, the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is second in size only to the Roman Catholic Church, with growth that shows no signs of abatement. Its adherents declare the Pentecostal Movement, which began at Azusa Street in 1906, to be unprecedented in Christian history since the first century of the Church in its embrace of manifestations of the Holy Spirit such as divine healing, miracles, and speaking in tongues. Yet although it may be unprecedented in size and rate of growth, Stanley M. Burgess argues that is hardly unprecedented in concept. In "Christian Peoples of the Spirit," Burgess collects documentary evidence for two thousand years of individuals and groups who have evidenced Pentecostal/charismatic-like spiritual giftings, worship, and experience. The documents in this collection, bolstered by concise editorial introductions, offer the original writings of a wide variety of "peoples of the spirit," from Tertullian and Antony of the Desert to the Shakers and Sunder Singh, as well as of their enemies or detractors. Though virtually all of the parties in this volume considered themselves Spirit-gifted, or given special qualities by God, they are in many ways as different from one another as the cultures from which they have emerged. In providing such an impressive array of voices, Burgess convincingly demonstrates that there have indeed been Spirit-filled worship and charismatic saints in all periods of church history.
This book provides the dermatologist with the essential information needed to properly treat all skin types cosmetically. All chapters have been written by female dermatologists with many years of personal experience in the field. The volume includes an overview of the systemic, intrinsic and extrinsic aging process, essential information on anti-aging skin care product ingredients, detailed discussions of patient selection and indications, and a wide range of cosmetic procedures. This concise book allows you - through its well-organized use of sidebars, photographs and illustrations - to extract any information you may need quickly and easily.

More and more people are finding that these techniques provide an efficient and cost-effective means of settling personal, organizational, business, community, and international disputes. "Encyclopedia of Conflict Resolution" is the first of its kind and presents all the concepts, techniques, information, and resources vital to this important field. Topics covered include events, people, organizations, and training and academic programs. This is a useful reference work for students, parents, teachers, and business people, as well as mediators and other conflict resolution professionals.

"a landmark book in the field of network and system administration. For the first time, in one place, one can study the components of network and system administration as an evolving and emerging discipline and science, rather than a set of recipes, practices, or principles." From the Foreword by Dr Alva Couch, Tufts University, USA "Mark Burgess' new book brings an analytical, scientific approach to bear on the general subject of systems and network administration. This original perspective opens up a wealth of ideas and possibilities which will be of interest to both the researcher and advanced practitioner in systems administration." Professor Paul Anderson, University of Edinburgh, UK Network and systems administration usually refers to the skill of keeping computers and networks running properly. But in truth, the skill needed is that of managing complexity - to save time performing common system administration tasks, to allow safe use of untrained and trained help in maintaining mission-critical systems and to enable efficient centralized network administration. Mark Burgess describes the science behind these complex systems, independent of the operating systems they work on. Rather than viewing the subject traditionally as a set of recipes for success or communications technologies for monitoring, Analytical Network and System Administration:
"An unusual book about system administration in that it describes the theory which relates the components - computers and networks to the users and administrators. It is the only book I know that covers the 'science' underpinning systems administration." Professor Morris Sloman, Imperial College London, UK
This comprehensive resource examines all aspects of the care of the patient with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). It focuses on the themes of: A- The importance of patient-centred nursing A- Comprehensive assessment of the person with MS A- The wide variation in the course of MS A- The role of the nurse The early part of this book examines the theory of MS i.e. the pathophysiology, the epidemiology, the types of MS and the various diagnostic tests. Practical aspects are included particularly in caring for someone who is going through the process of being diagnosed as having MS. There follows an exploration of the theory and practice of interferon therapies and a review of symptom management using case studies and vignettes. The later chapters discuss the complications of severe MS and the implications for the family and nurse in caring for someone who is severely disabled. Megan Burgess, a Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Hope Hospital, Salford has used her years of practical experience to produce an authoritative, single-volume library that will be essential reading for nurses in hospital and in the community who come in contact with people with MS.
This is a single, comprehensive resource that responds to the high demand for specialists who can provide advice to users and handle day to day administration, maintenance, and support of computer systems and networks. The author approaches both network and system administration from the perspective of the principles that do not change on a day to day basis. He shows how to discover customer needs and then use that information to identify, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements. The new coverage includes Java services and Ipv6.
