The aim of this work was not an exhaustive review of all pediatric
echo graphic problems but a presentation of our daily experience
with ultrasonography in pediatric practice. Several teams of
pediatric radiologists from France and Belgium have combined their
experiences to produce a practical book. The different authors have
been chosen for their specific experience and their special area of
work. The different chapters express therefore personal opinions.
Unresolved questions are posed and ultrasonographic examinations
are used in the diagnosis of different diseases, while the
discoveries and ideas of the individual authors are described. Some
fields are not included, such as echocardiography. Gabriel Kalifa

Under a Poacher's Moon 2 is a sequel to the author's popular first
book of warden stories published in 2012. As in the first book, the
author shares a collection of short stories that truthfully
document the challenges faced by Wisconsin Game Wardens. This
collection of stories hits a variety of enforcement topics
including commercial clamming, deer poaching, fish poachers,
ginseng theft, timber theft, commercial fishing, and state park
enforcement. There is also a chapter on the political protests at
the state capitol in response to the elimination of collective
bargaining in Wisconsin. (The author was on the capitol security
team during this event.) As in the original Poacher's Moon book,
there are also humorous anecdotes that lighten the mood at the
appropriate moments.
This book consists of 36 short stories that reflect some of the
real life experiences of a Wisconsin Game Warden over a 31 year
career. The stories allow the reader to experience the wide range
of emotions the conservation warden feels as he encounters
situations in the outdoors ranging from laughter to tragedy. The
reader will have the opportunity to learn what it is like to pursue
a vehicle driven by deer poachers, to face armed robbers, or to
ride the waves in a patrol boat responding to an emergency call.
These true stories cover a wide range of subjects. Chapters of the
book include the investigation of trout fishing violations, forest
fires, waterfowl hunting, commercial fishing, deer poachers,
serious pollution events, and the intoxicated operation of boats.
The author also describes the difficult task of investigating the
deaths of outdoor users who lose their lives in hunting and
recreational vehicle accidents. Historical chapters are also
included such as the role wardens played as peacekeepers during the
volatile protests over the exercise of treaty rights in northern
Wisconsin in the late 1980's. A warden's role in search and
recovery operations is also discussed.
