The collapse of the Irish "Celtic Tiger" economy, in the wake of a
banking disaster, provoked a joint EU/IMF rescue plan in late 2010.
The election that followed saw Europe's most successful ever party
lose more than half of its vote and almost three quarters of its
seats. This book provides the definitive analysis of an electoral
earthquake.

An Introduction to Environmental Epidemiology covers the basics of environmental exposure, health, and disease. Written to be easily accessible to readers with no formal training in epidemiology or statistics, this practical introduction is an ideal text/reference for students and professionals in nursing, medicine, industrial hygiene, occupational and environmental health, and general environmental science. It provides a target-organ oriented presentation of environmental hazards, with detailed discussions of selected exposures such as asbestos, lead, radon, and indoor and outdoor air pollutants. Major topics covered include:
(Director: Pierre J. COURTOY) Two years after its first gathering
in Oeiras, Portugal, the European Endocytosis Group convened for a
second workshop at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, on October 1-5,
1990. The meeting is reported in detail in this volume; a
preliminary coverage, based on the overviews of each session, has
appeared in the New Biologist (1991, 3:243-252). The three main
objectives, to broaden the audience, to present a more
comprehensive view of the multiple aspects of endocytosis, from
basic biology to health, disease and therapy, as well as to clarify
controversial issues, have been largely fulfilled. The Second
European Workshop on Endocytosis was attended by more than tOO
participants, originating from 18 countries. 59 lectures and 35
posters were presented. In addition, vivi~ roundtables allowed to
thoroughly discuss the dynamics and the regulation of the endocytic
apparatus, as well as the role of endocytosis in antigen
presentation. Endocytosis is a general and distinctive property of
all eukaryotic cells, including protists, plants and fungi.

I stood alone on the edge of the world. It was a place I had longed
to find, to just - be! ...I was aware of a soft, pervasive, lovely
peace surrounding me, in contrast to the din of daily life. I am
not sure if I took a deep breath first to grasp afresh the newness
of nature or held my breath in an attempt to clasp a fleeting
moment. Come along reader, to this edge - join the author on a
remarkable journey through Norwegian culture, society and nature as
she has seen it and seen it change since the early 1950ties. Come
along reader; come to reflect on events and vigour that drives man
as he unfolds in this northern landscape. Come along reader,
experience how cultural impulses transgress borders of nations and
weave deeds, minds and voices in the common called history, and the
aspiration called future. I remember my dear old aunt used to say,
in her native Yorkshire dialect, and I guess that included many old
viking words, 'Sammer 'em up and 'ugger 'em in. The translation I
was given as a child was, 'Pick them up and carry them. The author
picks it up her way, and leaves room to follow or depart - but
whatever your path is, you will enjoy this ride. Born a Yorkshire
lass in 1929, Gertrude M Marsh has over a lifetime developed a
unique, first hand and skilled eye on Norway. In text and
illustrations she reaches out to share her explorations, knowledge
and questions - with a passion that is contagious.

"As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke
it and gave it to the disciples, and said, 'Take, eat; this is my
body.'" How should one interpret these words of Jesus? The
sixteenth-century Reformers turned to Scripture to find the truth
of God's Word, but that doesn't mean they always agreed on how to
interpret it. For example, when approaching this passage from
Matthew's gospel, Martin Luther read it literally, for "as he says
in his own words, it is his body and his blood," but Thomas Cranmer
argued that "there must be some figure or mystery in this speech."
In this Reformation Commentary on Scripture volume, scholars Jason
K. Lee and William Marsh guide readers through a wealth of early
modern commentary on the book of Matthew. Readers will hear from
familiar voices and discover lesser-known figures from a diversity
of theological traditions, including Lutherans, Reformed, Radicals,
Anglicans and Roman Catholics. Drawing upon a variety of
resources-including commentaries, sermons, treatises, and
confessions-much of which appears here for the first time in
English, this volume provides resources for contemporary preachers,
enables scholars to better understand the depth and breadth of
Reformation commentary, and seeks to encourage all those who desire
to read the words of Scripture faithfully.

This book contains several short stories about the simple, innocent
romance between a boy and a girl that reflects a much simpler time.
A time when just holding hands and giving that certain boy or girl
a special look gave you huge butterflies in your stomach and that
breathless feeling of excitement and wonderment of, "Does he like
me? I mean REALLY like me?" or "Man I hope that look means she
likes me, a lot!" These stories are about a young man not afraid to
stand up for his lady and willing to risk his own safety to rescue
her. I believe a "real" man is NOT afraid to cry and in my stories
when someone's heart is breaking he is not afraid to show his true
feelings. So grab the tissues, find a comfortable place to sit,
pick up this book and be prepared to get lost in a world of good,
old fashioned romance. Happy reading!

The physical geography of Earth is explained through the systems
that shape the planet's lands, waters, and atmosphere. Written in
an easy narrative style, each chapter combines text with more than
40 single-concept illustrations. The result is a distinctive design
that weaves words and illustrations together into an integrated
whole. The presentation is uncluttered to keep students focused on
the main themes. An entire chapter is dedicated to climate change,
its geographic origins, likely outcomes, and influence on other
Earth systems. A distinctive illustration program includes summary
diagrams at the end of chapters that recap concepts and reinforce
the systems approach. Section summaries within chapters, along with
end-of-chapter review points and questions, are provided to
highlight key concepts and encourage thoughtful review of the
material. The instructor's guidebook highlights the core concepts
in each chapter and suggests strategies to advance a systems
approach in teaching physical geography.
