Occupying Political Science is a collection of critical essays
by New York based scholars, researchers, and activists, which takes
an unconventional look at the Occupy Wall Street movement through
concepts found in the field of political science. Both normative
and descriptive in its approach, Occupying Political Science seeks
to understand not only the origins, logic, and prospects of the OWS
movement, but also its effect on political institutions, activism,
and the very way we analyze power. It does so by asking questions
such as: How does OWS make us rethink the discipline of political
science, and how might the political science discipline offer ways
to understand and illuminate aspects of OWS? How does social
location influence OWS, our efforts to understand it, and the
social science that we do? Through addressing topics including
social movements and non-violent resistance, surveillance and means
of social control, electoral arrangements, new social media and
technology, and global connections, the authors offer a unique
approach that takes seriously the implications of their physical,
social and disciplinary location, in New York, both in relation to
Occupy Wall Street, and in their role as scholars in political
science.
This volume contains papers presented at the IUTAM Symposium on
Bubble Dynamics and Interface Phenomena held at the University of
Birmingham from 6-9 September 1993. In many respects it follows on
a decade later from the very successful IUTAM Symposium held at
CALTECH in June 1981 on the Mechanics and physics of bubbles in
liquids which was organised by the late Milton Plesset and Leen van
Wijngaarden. The intervening period has seen major development with
both experiment and theory. On the experimental side there have
been ad vances with very high speed photography and data recording
that provide detailed information on fluid and interface motion.
Major developments in both computer hardware and software have also
led to extensive improvement in our understand ing of bubble and
interface dynamics although development is still limited by the
sheer complexity of the laminar and turbulent flow regimes often
associated with bubbly flows. The symposium attracts wide and
extensive interest from engineers, physical, chemical, biological
and medical scientists and applied mathematicians. The sci entific
committee sought to achieve a balance between theory and experiment
over a range of fields in bubble dynamics and interface phenomena.
It was our intention to emphasise both the breadth and recent
developments in these various fields and to encourage
cross-fertilisation of ideas on both experimental techniques and
theo retical developments. The programme, and the proceedings
recorded herein, cover bubble dynamics, sound and wave propagation,
bubbles in flow, sonoluminescence, acoustic cavitation, underwater
explosions, bursting bubbles and ESWL."

Renal function fails abruptly in a bewildering variety of clinical
situations which lack any common clinical patterno This makes it
impossible to define acute renal failure in the same way as heart
failure or liver failureo Even oliguria, the commonest sign, is not
invariably present. As a result, the detection of acute renal

Chronic Renal Failure (ARF) depends on biochemical tests, which are
fortunately simple to perform and are commonly available. However,
the clinician has to think of the possibility in order to test the
diagnosis. Frequently, patients are admitted to a renal unit from
medical, surgical or gynaecological wards where the development of
ARF has gone unrecognized, either because the relevant
investigation has not been performed or because the result has been
overlooked. This happens because ARF occurs in patients with
complex problems which themselves demand con- siderable attention,
and it is easy to overlook a comparatively rare, if important,
complication.
In December 2004 the 109th Congress passed and President George W.
Bush signed the Intelligence Reform and Intelligence Prevention Act
(IRTPA). M. Kent Bolton argues that IRTPA represented a change in
the trajectory of U.S. national-security policy-the first
fundamental, demonstrable change since the 1947 National Security
Act (1947 NSA) became law creating a unified U.S. Department of
Defense, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security
Council, among other entities. As the 1947 NSA presaged a new era
of U.S. policymaking, so too did the IRTPA. As such the IRTPA
represents an extraordinarily important piece of legislation for
students and scholars of U.S. foreign and national-security policy.
The author documents how and why it became law and how it has
affected policymaking. He further argues that the changes begun by
9/11 and memorialized by IRTPA will likely affect U.S.
national-security policymaking for decades if not generations.

Throughout life using poetry as a personal outlet to channel
thoughts and feelings, the author created a map and shows her
journey throughout life to this point.
