The economic crises of the 1970s marked the end of the 'Golden Age'
of the welfare state and triggered a broad range of cost
containment measures in OECD countries. In the healthcare sector
the difficulties of cutting back state involvement are largely
caused by the fact that the legitimacy of health systems is based
on their capability to provide a satisfactory standard of
healthcare for all citizens, irrespective of their ability to pay
for it. Hence, the divergent healthcare system types of the heydays
of the welfare state which were characterized by the distinct role
of the state have now changed profoundly. Combining cross-sectional
studies on healthcare financing, provision and policy values with
in-depth country studies of Britain, Germany and the US, this
volume argues that divergent healthcare system types are now
converging toward hybrid forms.
This volume contains a collection of innovative techniques for
studying targeted protein degradation. Chapters guide readers
through heterobifunctional proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs)
approaches, E3 ligase, E3 ligase-induced ubiquitylation, proteomic
approaches, novel degrader molecules, molecular glue, and stabilize
binding interaction between a target and E3 ubiquitin ligase.
Written in the format of the highly successful Methods in Molecular
Biology series, each chapter includes an introduction to the topic,
lists necessary materials and reagents, includes tips on
troubleshooting and known pitfalls, and step-by-step, readily
reproducible protocols. Authoritative and cutting-edge, Targeted
Protein Degradation: Methods and Protocols aims to ensure
successful results in this emerging field of drug discovery.

Describes developments in healthcare systems over nearly four
decades. Combining cross-sectional studies on healthcare financing,
provision and policy values with in-depth country studies of
Britain, Germany and the USA, this volume is a thorough examination
of the convergence toward hybrid forms of healthcare systems.
