"A tone is at the foundation of everything in the physical world." This is one of many astonishing statements made by Rudolf Steiner in this collection of seven lectures on the inner realities of music. These lectures are an unusual treasure as they are the only two groups of lectures that Steiner gave primarily on music, other than the lecture cycle for the tone eurythmy course, Eurythmy as Visible Music. In the first group of three lectures, given in 1906, Steiner explains why music affects the human soul so powerfully. Music has always held a special position among the arts because it is the only art form whose archetype, or source, lies not in the physical world, as with architecture, sculpture, and painting, but purely in the spiritual world-the soul's true home. Music thus directly expresses through tones the innermost essence of the cosmos, and our sense of well-being when we hear music comes from a recognition of our soul's experience in the spiritual world. In the remaining lectures, given in 1922-23, Steiner discusses our experience of musical intervals and shows how it has undergone profound changes during the course of evolution. The religious effects of music in ancient times and the union of music with speech are considered, as well as the origin of musical instruments out of imaginations that accompanied singing. New insights are offered on the nature of the major and minor modes and on future directions of musical development.

Whatever He Wants (Paperback): M. St.Goar Whatever He Wants (Paperback)
M. St.Goar
R359 Discovery Miles 3 590 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Group sex, bisexuality, threesomes and exhibitionism are the norm in this sizzling, unconventional love story. After the breakup of her marriage, a young woman falls in love with a handsome foreigner and becomes sexually awakened to such an extent that she eventually cheats on him. She is simply insatiable. However, he understands because this has happened to him before. In an effort to save their relationship, he makes an unusual suggestion. He asks that she surrender her sexuality to him and let him dictate the terms of her lust. He will control her every affair and liason. He will tell her when and with whom she will have sex. He knows she will be miserable if she isn't true to herself, but will be too afraid to act on her desires unless he makes her do so. She reluctantly agrees and quickly plunges into a world of extreme sex that she would never before have dreamed possible. Set in the US and Europe, Whatever He Wants is a love story that shows that a girl can have her cake and eat it too. But only as long as her boyfriend permits.

This fascinating recollection of the early days of the Anthroposophical Society offers a unique perspective on Rudolf Steiner's work and his relationship to his students.

Of particular interest to our readers will be the chapters on the Christmas Conference of 1923 for the foundation of the Anthroposophical Society. Hiebel attended the meeting, and his lively descriptions and warm style let those solemn events rise up again in our souls. He recreates the solemn, sacred mood of the laying of the Foundation Stone, and provides insights into the structure and meaning of the Foundation Stone verses.
