Black Bodies and Transhuman Realities: Scientifically Modifying the Black Body in Posthuman Literature and Culture makes a series of valuable contributions to ongoing dialogues surrounding posthuman blackness and Afro-transhumanism. The collection explores the Black body (self) in the context of transhuman realities from a variety of literary and artistic perspectives. These points of view convey the cultural, political, social, and historical implications that frame the space of Black embodiment, functioning as sites of potentiality and pointing toward the possibility of a transcendental Black subjectivity. In this book, many questions concerning the transformation of the Black body are presented as parallels to philosophical and religious inquiries that have traditionally been addressed from a hegemonic viewpoint. The chapters demonstrate how literature, based on its historical and social contexts, contributes to broader thought about Black transcendence of subjectivity in a posthuman framework, exploring interpretations of the "old" and visions of the "new" human.
Electric power generation in Bangladesh is dominated by indigenous natural gas. At present, there is an acute shortage of electricity due to rapid increasing demand and derated generation from state owned aged less efficient gas or steam turbine power plants. They need to consider for proper utilization after retirement to overcome a national problem of power shortages. The author investigates the alternatives of such utilization and decision making criteria. The decision is based on five criteria by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Expert judgments are used for assessing the importance level of each criterion as well as a final decision of the alternatives. Seven case studies from existing power plants in Bangladesh are also employed.
Corrosion is a complex phenomenon, and particularly in water distribution systems, when it's already challenging electro-chemical processes are influenced by numerous other physical and chemical factors. Lead pipe corrosion can itself be influenced by both the hydraulic transients and water chemistry events. There are numerous chemical species that contribute to the corrosion processes, but their degree of influences vary widely. From scientific standpoint, quantification of the influence of each chemical species, in addition, the change in degree of influence due to variation in the concentrations, on corrosion processes is critically important. For such investigation, integrated numerical transient- corrosion modeling and comprehensive analyses of the data are required. In this research, to understand the quantitative relationships among hydraulic transient, dominant chemical & material processes, a coupled transient-ADR model is applied for analyzing the transient induced lead pipe corrosion behaviors for a range of options and establishes quantitative interrelationships among the key parameters through comprehensive analyses.
