Gaussian scale-space is one of the best understood multi-resolution techniques available to the computer vision and image analysis community. It is the purpose of this book to guide the reader through some of its main aspects. During an intensive weekend in May 1996 a workshop on Gaussian scale-space theory was held in Copenhagen, which was attended by many of the leading experts in the field. The bulk of this book originates from this workshop. Presently there exist only two books on the subject. In contrast to Lindeberg's monograph (Lindeberg, 1994e) this book collects contributions from several scale space researchers, whereas it complements the book edited by ter Haar Romeny (Haar Romeny, 1994) on non-linear techniques by focusing on linear diffusion. This book is divided into four parts. The reader not so familiar with scale-space will find it instructive to first consider some potential applications described in Part 1. Parts II and III both address fundamental aspects of scale-space. Whereas scale is treated as an essentially arbitrary constant in the former, the latter em phasizes the deep structure, i.e. the structure that is revealed by varying scale. Finally, Part IV is devoted to non-linear extensions, notably non-linear diffusion techniques and morphological scale-spaces, and their relation to the linear case. The Danish National Science Research Council is gratefully acknowledged for providing financial support for the workshop under grant no. 9502164."

The two-volume set LNCS 4190 and LNCS 4191 constitute the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2006. The program committee carefully selected 39 revised full papers and 193 revised poster papers for presentation in two volumes. This second volume collects 118 papers related to segmentation, validation and quantitative image analysis, brain image processing, and much more.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second
International Conference on Scale-Space Theories in Computer
Vision, Scale-Space'99, held in Corfu, Greece, in September
1999.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 27th International Conference on Information Processing in Medical Imaging, IPMI 2021, which was held online during June 28-30, 2021. The conference was originally planned to take place in Bornholm, Denmark, but changed to a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 59 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 200 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: registration; causal models and interpretability; generative modelling; shape; brain connectivity; representation learning; segmentation; sequential modelling; learning with few or low quality labels; uncertainty quantification and generative modelling; and deep learning.
This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Multimodal Brain Image Analysis, MBAI 2019, and the 7th International Workshop on Mathematical Foundations of Computational Anatomy, MFCA 2019, held in conjunction with the 22nd International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2019, in Shenzhen, China, in October 2019. The 16 full papers presented at MBAI 2019 and the 7 full papers presented at MFCA 2019 were carefully reviewed and selected. The MBAI papers intend to move forward the state of the art in multimodal brain image analysis, in terms of analysis methodologies, algorithms, software systems, validation approaches, benchmark datasets, neuroscience, and clinical applications. The MFCA papers are devoted to statistical and geometrical methods for modeling the variability of biological shapes. The goal is to foster the interactions between the mathematical community around shapes and the MICCAI community around computational anatomy applications.
This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of the First International Workshop on Graphs in Biomedical Image Analysis, GRAIL 2017, the 6th International Workshop on Mathematical Foundations of Computational Anatomy, MFCA 2017, and the Third International Workshop on Imaging Genetics, MICGen 2017, held in conjunction with the 20th International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2017, in Quebec City, QC, Canada, in September 2017. The 7 full papers presented at GRAIL 2017, the 10 full papers presented at MFCA 2017, and the 5 full papers presented at MICGen 2017 were carefully reviewed and selected. The GRAIL papers cover a wide range of graph based medical image analysis methods and applications, including probabilistic graphical models, neuroimaging using graph representations, machine learning for diagnosis prediction, and shape modeling. The MFCA papers deal with theoretical developments in non-linear image and surface registration in the context of computational anatomy. The MICGen papers cover topics in the field of medical genetics, computational biology and medical imaging.
This first volume includes 114 contributions related to bone shape analysis, robotics and tracking, segmentation, analysis of diffusion tensor MRI, and much more.
